The Witcher is Getting A Cartoon Prequel
I was among that big group of everybody who very much enjoyed The Witcher TV show on Netflix last fall…or two falls ago? Who can tell at this point. Anyway, season two is coming later this year, but Netflix has also decided to expand the brand a bit and we’re going to get a prequel cartoon in two weeks.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is going to tell the story of Vesemir, the Witcher who trains Geralt.
Looks pretty awesome. Done in an anime-style, similar to the recent (and amazing) Castlevania show on Netflix. If this is even half as good as Castlevania, Nightmare of the Wolf should be pretty awesome! And then we’ll be properly introduced to Vesemir before he shows up in season two of the live action show.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf arrives on Netflix on Aug. 23.

More Star Trek: Lower Decks is Coming!
I have never been a Star Trek guy…until last year, when the cartoon Lower Decks debuted and I was instantly in love! This is the Star Trek for me. Funny, well-written, awesome in all the right ways and full of smart, well-used references. I would literally watch an episode and then go online to learn what all the references were, I was that in love with the show.
And it’s coming back for a second season!
I cannot wait. This show is damn good, and I hope it gets a bajillion seasons. And then I hope it gets some live action crossovers somehow with other Trek media. Paramount is putting out a ton of Star Trek content these days, and Lower Decks is the only one that’s any good. In my opinion.
Season two of Star Trek: Lower Decks arrives on Aug. 12!

I’ve Never Seen a Saw Movie
And now I don’t have to! The Tell It Animated guy has gone above and beyond the call of duty with his latest video, recapping and animating all of the villains in the Saw franchise. He adds some bonus cheers and is hopefully having a good time with all of the work he’s doing.
This was another stellar video. Fun, funny and very informative. The man is doing good work.
I can’t remember what my previous suggestions were for. I think he should do Robin! And…Black Widow maybe? Although the window has probably passed on that one now.

Pixar is Gonna Do Another One With Turning Red
Pixar has been hot and cold for me over the past few years. I didn’t care for Soul. I loved Luca. Suffice to say, they are in a different mode these days than their all-time classics. So let’s see how they do next year with Turning Red.
Looks fine to me! A young girl dealing with anxiety turns into a giant red panda, Incredible Hulk style. Sounds like a solid metaphor for puberty and whatnot.
Turning Red is scheduled to arrive in theaters in March 2022.

How About a Big Peek at What If…?
The Loki TV show is almost over, so Marvel has the next one lined up and ready to go! It’s What If…?, the cartoon! And a new, fuller trailer arrived to the world yesterday looking all manner of interesting.
This one looks really neat! I really enjoyed the concept of What If…? when I was younger. It’s a great idea for a comic. And it looks to be a fun idea for a cartoon to run alongside the MCU. This is a fun look at what some of the episodes will be. Better websites than mine have picked apart every single frame of this trailer, because that’s what they do, so if you’re interested in that sort of thing you can find it.
Me? I’m just jazzed at all the fun sights! We’ll find out what the show itself is like when What If…? arrives on Disney+ on Aug. 11.
