6 Thoughts on the First Season of X-Men ’97
I mean, jeez louis, people. What an intense and amazing two months this has been. My expectations were very tempered when this show was first announced, and then we go those first few trailers. But from episode one, I have been hooked and completely on board with this insane idea that worked far, far better than it had any right to work.
TV Show Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic
I was a huge fan of the original X-Men Animated Series when it came out in the 1990s. I was the perfect age for it and was already solidly versed with the comics — though not the comics that were current at the time. The show introduced me to characters like Gambit, Rogue and Jubilee, and then so much more beyond them. The original show was everything. And now this new continuation is everything again. It’s so damn good. They did everything right and then some. X-Men ’97 is so good, I wonder if it will affect the MCU plans for the X-Men going forward…
Anyway, the finale aired yesterday and I’m ready to talk about the show! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole show. Seriously! DO NOT READ THIS LIST if you haven’t watched X-Men ’97! But if you have, join me after the jump for my thoughts! And please feel free to share your thoughts and review in the comments below!

I’ve been a longtime fan of The Oatmeal comics. The dude is funny and he makes great products. So I will probably check out his upcoming Netflix cartoon, Exploding Kittens. It could be fun!
I’m pretty sure I’ve played the Exploding Kittens card game he invented and produced, and I’m not sure if it resembles this cartoon at all. But the humor seems alright and I’m always open for new cartoons. I just finished Hazbin Hotel, which lives up to all the hype its generating. And this reminds me that I need to maybe watch Nathan Pyle’s Strange Planet cartoon. There are too many shows to watch! I can’t keep track!
Anyway, Exploding Kittens comes to Netflix in July.

Strong Guy Watch: Didn’t See This Coming!
There was a super surprise Strong Guy appearance this week and I need to tell somebody! I’ve been following random Strong Guy appearances for years now, just because it’s fun. He’s a great character and doesn’t appear very often. And now he’s had one of his greatest appearances of all time.
But I won’t spoil it here. You’re going to have to join me after the jump for the big Strong Guy reveal! I warn you, only click this link if your love of Strong Guy outweighs your concerns about spoilers, and if you’re fully up to speed on X-Men projects.
There will only be light spoilers.

It’s Tell It Animated time! And this time around he’s doing Mechagodzilla. Everybody loves a good kaiju. And I had no idea Mechagodzilla made so many appearances out there in this wide pop culture world.
That is one detailed, fancy-looking giant robot. The animator really went to extremes to get this guy done for this video! Kudos all around! And next video is the 50th! I doubt he’ll take my suggestion to do Robin. But who would be worthy for a 50th video? Maybe an update on every video he’s done so far? Or an update on his first video, whoever that was. My legit guess would be…Link! But we’ll see.
Also today is supposed to see the release of a new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, so check back later! I’ll get that up as soon as I see it posted.

Animated Transfomers Origin Movie Incoming
So, huh. I have been vaguely aware of Transformers One for some time now, but I had no idea it was going to be this: an animated origin story that leans into every possible trope imaginable, while trying to tap into the same magic of TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. See for yourself.
The tropes are unending. Enemies started out as best friends in lowly jobs. They’ve got the comic relief character and the girl character to round out the squad. A-list actors brought in to do voice actor work. Man, this trailer has it all! The humor is maybe funny. The action and animation look fine. The exploration of Transformers lore feels forced. And it doesn’t help that the big screen Transformers franchise is all over the place these days. So I’m just not sure what this movie is trying to accomplish.
But I guess we’ll find out when Transformers One comes to theaters on Sept. 20.
