My 6 Favorite Episodes of Adventure Time

Adventure Time! Come on, grab your friends, we’ll go to very distant lands With Jake the Dog and Finn the Human the fun will never end. Adventure Time! Is there any show in the history of television more insanely creative or wildly bonkers than Adventure Time? If there is, I’ll have to see it to believe it, because Adventure Time is nuts! It’s the silly and off-the-wall adventures of Finn and Jake in the magical land of Ooo. But ask any fan and they will tell you that Adventure Time is more than just ADHD-inspired insanity. It’s a show with wit, charm, and on a few surprising occasions, real pathos. Also, the dog is magic and there are candy people!

Why is it that people love Adventure Time so much? I’ve heard one theory that people watch for the nostalgia of their own childhood adventures. And I’m sure there are some people who won’t watch unless they’re high as a kite. For me, Adventure Time is a great show because they mix the maniacal with the mundane. The ideas are out of this world. From Abraham Lincoln being the King of Mars to a short, apple-loving old lady elephant named ‘Tree Trunks’. The show is insane.

But at the same time, quite frequently, most of the characters in the show treat this insane world as mundane. Like the time Finn and Jake returned to the Nightosphere and were being held prisoner in a cage full of bananas. When they were approached by the demonic, bat-like prison guard, the guy just made conversational small talk about the end of his shift. I love the tone of moments like that, and they’re sprinkled all throughout the weirdness of Adventure Time.

So even though the show is (hopefully) far from over, and the fifth season has only just begun, here is a list of my 6 favorite episodes (so far) of Adventure Time! I’m going to assume that anybody who reads this is already a fan of the show, so full SPOILERS are in effect as I talk about each episode. And if you haven’t seen the show, perhaps this will convince you to give it a try!

So Many Dumb Ways To Die

If you work for the railroad and want to stop idiots from playing on the rails, what do you do? If you’re in Australia, you apparently win the Internet.

Is that not the most adorable and gruesome thing you’ve seen all year? It’s good to know that the magic and power of the Internet can be used for educational purposes. The video was created by the Melbourne Metro Trains, with a song by Tangerine Kitty. You can even enjoy it in gif form!

And please, people, stay off the tracks. And don’t drink super glue.

The 6 Best Pop Culture Brothers

It was my brother’s birthday on Monday, and you may remember him from various comments he’s posted on my articles, or that one  blog post he wrote about robots. I’ve tried to get him to write more posts, seeing as how he’s both funny and a good writer, but I guess he’s just got something better to do than help out his brother’s blog. It’s not like I’m providing a completely free and easy way to get his voice out to the masses or anything. But I digress. Today’s List of Six is his Happy Birthday present, because I’m a cheap schmuck.

Soon there will be war

So siblings are a thing. And like most things, they’ve worked their way into pop culture. Fancy that. But no, seriously, they’re everywhere! Pop culture and fiction especially like twins. But we’re not twins. We just look like twins. Other than his massive beard, of course. Several of the characters on this list have beards. So it all kind of comes full circle. Here are the 6 best brother pairs in pop culture!

The Badass, Anime Red Riding Hood You’ve Always Wanted

The animation director behind the genius Red vs. Blue  is now turning his sights to some kind of werewolf-killing anime version of Little Red Riding Hood.

You can learn more about Rwby Red on its Facebook page. Rooster Teeth do amazing work. The last few seasons of Red vs. Blue have been action packed, with breathtaking fight scenes and insane action choreography. A lot of the early humor may be gone, but no one does an action or fight scene like Rooster Teeth. As you can plainly see in the above trailer.

Rwby Red comes out in 2013, and you better believe I’m going to be there to see it!

It appears that Red may have some friends

Animated Axe Cop Wishes You a Happy Halloween

The words ‘animated Axe Cop’ alone should be enough to make your eyeballs melt with buttery excitement.

And the fact that he’s voice by Ron F&cking Swanson is just perfect. Who hired him for the voice? They deserve a Nobel Peace Prize. We’ve known for awhile now that Fox’s Animation Domination is working on an Axe Cop cartoon, and this video appears to be a test animation to see how it’s coming along. I declare that it’s absolutely perfect!
