Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/18/17

By the time you’re reading this, I’ll be manning my own table at the Fingerlakes Comic-Con in my hometown of Auburn, NY! It’s a 3-day event and I’ll be there all three days promoting my own comic, Gamer Girl & Vixen! There will be some big GG&V news coming soon, but for now, I’m spreading the good word at a hopefully awesome convention!

As for the rest of comics this week, it was another good one! We’ve got Harley Quinn, we’ve got U.S.Avengers and we’ve got Power Rangers, among others! Comic Book of the Week goes to the new issue of Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat! Because it’s just adorable and funny, that’s why.

A pretty solid summation of the entire comic

This week in comics I read but didn’t review, I’m taking a slight break from The Mighty Thor. It was still a fun issue — because Jason Aaron is great on the title — but it further solidifies my belief that this Asgard/Shi’ar War is a weird waste of time. We’ll get back to Mighty Thor when that wraps up. And I really enjoyed the new issue of Nightwing, until writer Tim Seeley teased a possible fridging! I’m going to give Seeley the benefit of the doubt and see what the next issue holds, but for now, he’s on notice!

Comic Reviews: Harley Quinn #14, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #12, Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat #15, U.S.Avengers #3 and The Wild Storm #1.

Who Needs More Thor Movies?

Why make more Thor movies when we can just have comedy shorts? The first one was genius, and a second one is going to be part of the Doctor Strange DVD release this month! Here’s a brief tease/clip!

Hilarious! I want more and more of these for the entire build-up for Thor: Ragnarok. But they may raise the hype too much for the actual release.

Marvel is Making a Fancy New Video Game

Considering we live in a world where the Batman: Arkham games were a huge success, I have high hopes for Marvel making a solid superhero video game. They announced a new partnership with Square Enix this morning for The Avengers Project. Check out this completely useless teaser trailer.

So we have no information about the game, other than it’s going to be about the Avengers, possibly reassembling for whatever reason. But the very fact that it could be as good as the Batman: Arkham games has me potentially excited for anything, really.

Here’s to hope!

6 Insane Characters Peter Dinklage Could Play Other Than Pip the Troll

Awesome actor extraordinaire Peter Dinklage was recently announced as being in talks to star in the two upcoming Avengers sequels. So I had the bright idea of doing a List of Six about the possible roles that Dinklage could play. Of course, the entire rest of the Internet had the very same idea. Clearly great minds think alike.

So much Dinklage attention!

The smart thing to do would be to cut my losses and just do another list. But then I got to thinking: why not just be lazy and make my own list anyway? I’ve never done a list about Peter Dinklage before. Why not? Besides, pretty much everybody on the Internet has pegged Dinklage for the same handful of potential characters: Pip the Troll, the Watcher, Mephisto, Adam Warlock or M.O.D.O.K. And yeah, these are all solid ideas.

But what if I opened up the awesome expanse of my geeky mind and came up with six character possibilities that no sane person would possibly consider?! Yeah, that might be fun.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/7/17

The new year is off to a great start! I got a mega dose of new comics this week, and hot damn if they weren’t all high caliber, enjoyable comics! It was like people were writing and drawing specifically for me!

Not only does Harley Quinn get back to roaring action, but we’ve got stellar outings for Nightwing, Hawkeye and Unworthy Thor! Even the first issue of the new U.S. Avengers was a smash! And I caught up with the new Nova! Imagine that.

Comic Book of the Week goes to another first issue: Unstoppable Wasp #1! Marvel is really killing it with the awesome, adorable, kickass female superheroes!

She makes a good point

I haven’t reviewed Saga in awhile, even though it’s still an enjoyable comic. I like Saga, but for the past few volumes, it feels like Brian K. Vaughn is spinning his wheels. Am I alone in this? The stories are still fine, and the cliffhangers are as strong as ever, but I feel like the story has become lost in the weeds a bit. Ah well, that’s not going to stop me from reading.

Comic Reviews: Harley Quinn #11, Hawkeye #2, Nightwing #12, Nova #2, Unstoppable Wasp #1, Unworthy Thor #3 and U.S. Avengers #1.
