Stingray is Back in the Saddle!
When it comes to comic books, I’m a very character-focused guy. I read the titles that my favorite characters appear in. Simple as that. And when one of my obscure favorites pops up in a random place, I celebrate a little inside.
Case in point, it seems that Stingray is going to join Deadpool’s team of mercs in February! It’s not exactly his usual sort of thing, but when you’re as obscure as Stingray, you take what you can get.
I don’t know what the comic will be about, but I bet it will be humorous. And Stingray might even have a new, more technologically-advanced design to his costume! Looks like I might have to start reading a Deadpool comic again.
Also, while we’re on the subject, I love that Slapstick redesign! Now there’s an obscure character who needs to get more love.

Duggan is writing that entire group out-of-character. Why the hell is Stingray – a scientist and researcher – working as a mercenary for Deadpool? Slapstick is a depressed psychopath who keeps killing people. Terror, someone who was always smart and cultured, is reduced to a violent brute. Solo’s given up his war against terror in favour of just looking for cash. Foolkiller has given up his crusade against fools in favour of cash. Madcap has given up his campaign to show people the inherent meaninglessness of life in favour of cash. It’s bullshit and it’s stupid and there is no way any writer – much less a writer as middling as Cullen Bunn – can make it not stupid.
That is absolutely right. Such is the punishment for being a low level, D-list character. And wait, have they already appeared in Deadpool comics? I’m gonna have to check that out…
Yeah, they’re in the first two issues of the new series. In fact, they’ve gotten more focus so far than Deadpool himself. Which is a shame, because Duggan has no idea how to write a single frigging one of them.
I was also very exicted! stingray is handsdown one of my favorite characters, i bet you dont hear that everyday. i ve been slowly collecting his comic appearances and cant wait to see him in a new series finally!
Always nice to hear from another Stingray fan!
