The Ant-Man Sequel Will Co-Star the Wasp!

New York Comic-Con is this weekend, and the news has started swirling! First up is the announcement of the Ant-Man sequel, which will arrive on July 6, 2018. The bigger news is that the movie will be called Ant-Man and the Wasp! Evangeline Lilly will get to don her badass costume and help headline a movie! Hopefully this means she’ll also be included in the toyline, right Marvel?

The costumes will probably be better

I’m definitely excited about this. I loved the first Ant-Man, and knowing that a sequel is coming is big news – though I’m probably more excited to see him guest star alongside the other Avengers in next year’s Captain America: Civil War.

The sad news is that the Ant-Man sequel will have some major shake-ups for future Marvel movies. Captain Marvel is getting bumped from November 2018 to March 2019. That’s very disappointing news! I’d rather have that one come first. But also bad is that Black Panther is getting moved ahead to February 2018! Everybody knows that February is a deadzone for new movies! Why would Marvel ever release a movie in February?

Though I have noticed that more studios seem to be putting bigger movies in the January/February zone. The third Kung-Fu Panda is going to come out in that winter period. Surely that’s not expected to bomb, right? Are studios trying to reclaim the winter months?!

  1. LEGO movie came out in February. There are no rules anymore. Chaos reigns supreme.

  2. I’m pissed off that Marvel bumped Captain Marvel for the second time, to make way for Ant-Man 2. Yeah yeah, it’s cool that the Wasp gets to have her name in the title, but she’s still getting second billing. Ant-Man himself is the lead, the Wasp is the sidekick. And in order to make room for a movie with a female in the title, they pushed back the movie where the female is the ONLY name in the title. In fact, Ant-Man and the Wasp is taking Captain Marvel’s original release date.

I don’t see why this couldn’t have been given the 2019 slot, instead.

Also, I look forward to seeing the Wasp left off the merchandise for her own damned movie.

    • I hear ya. Marvel needs to push Captain Marvel and Black Panther as the next big hits (Doctor Strange too, maybe). It’d be great to get a Captain Marvel casting soon…but then she and we would have to wait so long for the darn movie.
