Why This Film Isn’t Called ‘302’ I Will Never Know
Behold the second trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire!
I’ve gotta be honest…I’m pretty lukewarm about this trailer. I loved 300 with a deafening passion, and watch it still frequently today. The stylized action and violence was epic, and it made me think Zack Snyder would do great on Man of Steel (boy, was I wrong). But this sequel just looks weaker, like it’s just a cheap knock-off of 300 – which it very well could be. I’m not entirely sure what’s happening in that trailer, whereas 300 had a very clear purpose and story. I fear 300: Rise of an Empire is going to be a bit sub-plot heavy and muddled. But we’ll see.
Wonder Woman Rumors Were True! An Actress has Been Cast!
The rumors that Wonder Woman would be in the upcoming Superman/Batman movie were proven true today when Warner Bros. announced they had cast actress Gal Gadot!
I’ve never heard of her, but the Internet says this is Gadot:
Gadot has apparently had some supporting roles in a few Fast & Furious movies, none of which I’ve seen, so I can’t comment on her acting ability or screen presence. But just the fact that Wonder Woman will be in the movie exciting! Plus this probably means those rumors about Dick Grayson being in the movie are also true! That is stupendous!
This news is so cool that I’m willingly ignoring the fact that I didn’t like Man of Steel at all!
Director Zack Snyder had this to say about Gadot:
Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.
So what does everyone else think? Wonder Woman’s going to get a cameo appearance in a Superman/Batman movie before starring in her own much-desired film. Is this a good move or silly? I think it’s pretty cool.
The 6 Most Underrated X-Men
The Internet loves to make fun of the X-Men. Whether ranking the worst members of the team or the most pointless, the X-Men seem to be easy pickings for discerning Internet nerds. Well I’m a different kind of Internet nerd, and I’m here to offer my support for some of those very same X-Men! Because if there’s one thing you need to understand about comic books, it’s that there are no bad characters, only bad writers.
By their very nature, the X-Men are going to feature some less-than-stellar characters. Most superhero teams like the Avengers or the Justice League only take the best of the best superheroes. But the X-Men are built on being a minority, featuring characters who were born with their powers. And those powers can be either a gift or a curse. Sometimes you get the power to shoot lasers out of your eyes or control the weather. And sometimes your sweat is acidic or your bones grow out through your skin.

Higher Quality Spider-Man 2 Picture
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 poster from last week has been officially released online with crystal clear images of Rhino and Green Goblin.
Rhino looks mostly awesome, for what he is. I’m not sold, yet, on the idea that he’s a literal robotic rhinoceros instead of a guy in a big suit, but I’m keeping an open mind. The Green Goblin, however, looks stupid. It’s the hair, the hair looks ridiculous. There’s a reason why the Green Goblin in the comics doesn’t have hair. That’s the reason. Right there.
Also, here’s the official plot synopsis:
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
I think I am most looking forward to seeing Rhino in this movie.
Trick Shot Titus is My New Hero
Who doesn’t want to live in a world where a 2-year-old is the world’s greatest basketball artist? Apparently he’s been doing this for awhile too, but only came to my attention recently. For shame, universe. I want to be kept up to date on this stuff.
