Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/20/13

Comic-Con International and Henchman-4-Hire have two things in common today: we’re both hard at work! Unfortunately, we’re not working together, at least not yet. Maybe someday I’ll have a booth at the comic book/pop culture Mecca of the world, but not yet. I’m still just a lonely nobody blogger plucking away at my keyboard here in Central New York.  At least the comics were good this week.

I don’t know what it is, but comics have been on a roll for a few weeks now. I’m mostly reading some pretty awesome books anyway, but this week was especially good. What great, glorious world do I live in where Batwoman, FF, Thor: God of Thunder and Wonder Woman all come out in the same week? They’re some of my favorite comics! And this week, Wonder Woman is the clear winner of Comic Book of the Week. It’s spectacular. If you love the New Gods, I hope you’re reading Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman has got this team leader thing down cold!

Comic Reviews: Batman and Catwoman #22, Batwoman #22, FF #9, Justice League of America #6, Thor: God of Thunder #10, and Wonder Woman #22.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is Just Wrong

Let’s keep the Wolverine party going, shall we?. The Honest Trailers peeps have cranked out a great take on X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Seriously, though, who thought that title was a good idea?

Once again, those guys absolutely nail the hilarious badness of crummy movies. X-Men Origins: Wolverine got so many things wrong. And now I’m waiting for The Wolverine to do the same. I’m not expecting a good movie. But I suppose we’ll see next weekend. Who’s with me? Anybody really looking forward to The Wolverine as the superhero movie of the year?

Wolverine the Puppet Musical May Be the Greatest Thing Ever Made

I am no stranger to hyperbole, so believe me when I tell you that this video is probably the greatest thing the Internet has ever produced.

A chorus of Multiple Men? Seriously!? Was this video made specifically for me? Did some just and loving god look down from the heavens and imbue Glove and Boots to be the bearer of His good word? The songs are well-written, the puppetry is beyond amazing, and they used Multiple Man, people! Multiple Man! I wish I could blog this a hundred times over. It’s…I should hire a poet.

If The Wolverine movie is even half as good as this puppet musical, then this is a world worth living in.

Sentinel Head!

X-Men: Days of Future Past is on full display at Comic-Con International, including the first look at the movie’s Sentinels! Now, Sentinels were on my list of things I want to see in the movie, so I hope that means someone at Fox – perhaps even Bryan Singer himself – is reading my blog. Because that would be awesome. But even if they’re not, you can all enjoy this first look at movie Sentinels after the jump. Just in case anybody is trying to avoid spoilers, I’m gonna hide the pics for now.

Best Small Council Meeting Ever

I like to think I have a refined sense of humor. Which is why I thought today’s video was drop-to-the-floor hilarious! It’s a Game of Thrones small council meeting edited to remove all of the dialogue. It’s the most awkward small council meeting ever!

There’s no real way to explain why the above scene is so funny. You either laugh or you don’t, and that’s where we draw the line on senses of humor. Made by Tower of the Hand.
