New Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer is Pretty Spectacular!
Check out the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and try to spot all the great Easter Eggs and general awesomeness!
This was definitely one of the best superhero trailers I’ve seen in a long time. The action is superb, the characters look fantastic, and the focus is clearly on Spider-Man and the trails he faces in the new movie. Electro, Rhino and Green Goblin all look brilliant, and did you catch the quick cameos from he Vulture and Doctor Octopus? It was just their gear in display cases, but still!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 looks great so far. I cannot wait for this film!
It Will Never Stop Being Funny That the Amazing Spider-Man Uses Bing
Honest Trailers is back, this time parodying The Amazing Spider-Man.
Each and every one of these that they have made has been gold, or at least the ones I’ve seen. And they’re clearly having a lot of fun poking holes in some pretty popular movies. Even though I loved The Amazing Spider-Man, there’s no denying that Screen Junkies are right on the mark about this. No teenage science geek like Peter Parker would stoop to using Bing!
6 Villains I Want and 6 I Don’t Want in the New Spider-Man Movies
I would not have chosen the Lizard for The Amazing Spider-Man movie reboot. But then I didn’t have the unenviable task of picking a new super-villain to star in the reboot after most of the big names had been used in the three previous films. Who else were the writers supposed to pick? Well I’m glad you asked!
Spider-Man has the second best Rogue’s Gallery in all of comics (behind Batman). He’s got smart villains, bruiser villains, small-time crooks and big-time megalomaniacs! So with this new Spider-Man franchise being launched, who would I choose for the upcoming sequels?
OK, so I’d pick Venom. And probably even Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus. What can I say, they’re some of the best, coolest and most cinematic of Spider-Man’s villains. And I wouldn’t bat an eye if the new franchise wanted to use them. But you and I both know that Spider-Man has many, many more foes to choose from. So being the comic book geek that I am, I’ve put together a list of the 6 villains I want to see in future movies, and 6 that I don’t. Not all of Spidey’s bad guys are made for the big screen.
Review: The Amazing Spider-Man
Bring on the new trilogy! The Amazing Spider-Man reboots the Spidey franchise with new depth, better action and, most importantly, real dramatic subtlety. This new film by director Mark Webb makes the old Sam Raimi trilogy look like a Saturday Morning Cartoon. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at those old movies the same way again. Especially since lead actors Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone (as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy) make the old couple, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, look like community theater.
I had my reservations about a rebooted, darker Spider-Man film, but this new movie blew me away. The Amazing Spider-Man may be just a redo of the classic origin story, but it does it so much better than the previous film that it more than justifies the new direction.
Movie rating: 5/5: Great!
This is definitely a Spider-Man film. Despite most of the action taking place at night, giving the film a much darker look than its predecessors, The Amazing Spider-Man hits all the right notes to capture Spidey on the big screen. It’s got humor, it’s got costumed action, it’s got the overwhelming sense of responsibility and guilt, and it’s got a wonderful juxtaposition between Peter Parker living an ordinary life with his Aunt May vs. flying through the city in a blue and red costume.
But this is first and foremost Peter Parker’s movie. The focus is on how Peter grows as a man and becomes the hero we all love, and that may be my favorite part of the movie.
Peter doesn’t just become the heroic Spider-Man after Uncle Ben is killed. There are gradual stages that he goes through that change him from an angry, guilt-ridden teenager into the hero who saves New York. That’s the subtlety I mentioned above. Following that path and seeing the growth in Peter’s character made for a wonderful film. By the end, Spidey is a hero, the bad guy is defeated and we have ourselves a new franchise! I can’t wait for more!

Amazing Spider-Man Could Actually Be Amazing
With all of The Avengers hoopla over the past few days, I haven’t had time to post this cool new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, which debuts on July 3. I’ve watched it both before and after The Avengers, which I think we can all agree has raised the bar for any and all superhero movies from here on out. It simply has, best we all accept that now.
I’m finally happy to say that I’m hopeful about The Amazing Spider-Man.
The trailer is still very dark and very brooding, which I’m generally opposed to in a Spider-Man movie. I’m not saying it has to be light and colorful, but this isn’t Batman. Andrew Garfield could do a good job as Spider-Man. I never liked Tobey Maguire in the costume. The few jokes/quips we get in that trailer seem legitimately funny. So I definitely have hope there. And the action sequences look pretty great.
I am a little worried about all this talk about the secret to Peter’s origins, and the focus on his parents. Usually I don’t care if a movie studio decides to change some aspects of a superhero in order to make them fit the screen. But if they mess with the actual, philosophical definitions of a character, then I get peeved. Like when they revealed in Spider-Man 3 that Sandman actually killed Uncle Ben and not the original thief. That was just so incredibly stupid! And it took away the guilt Peter felt for his uncle’s death.
Unnecessarily changing a superhero’s origin and raison d’etre just grinds my gears. But maybe I’m just reading too much into the trailer, which otherwise is a pretty good trailer. I’m hopeful about this movie being good now.
Though as a rule, I don’t trust this movie. If you don’t know the circumstances here, the movie license for making Spider-Man films was sold to Sony years ago, which gave us those three Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films a few years ago. They were good. But now if Sony ever stops making Spider-Man films, the licensing rights revert back to Marvel Comics and their parent company Disney. Sony does not want this to happen, so it’s likely that they will be churning out Spider-Man movies for as long as humanly possible.
Which brings me to naturally assuming this new movie won’t be any good.
However, that’s exactly what I thought to expect with X-Men: First Class last year. Fox is in the same situation, since they have the licensing rights to the X-Men franchise. But then X-Men: First Class was amazing! So now I know not to just assume these new movies will be bad. I think it’s safe to say that Sam Raimi was not the only person in Hollywood with an awesome vision for a Spider-Man movie. Frankly, I think we all have, in our hearts, an idea for a Spider-Man movie.
It just so happens that new director Marc Webb is the one who gets to make his version. Lucky bastard.
