6 Things I Want to See in a Third Star Wars Jedi Game

I finally beat Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this past weekend, and the game was mostly a lightsaber parts collection game for me. I love building my own lightsaber, especially when I’m provided with a catalogue of existing parts that I can mix and match. My mental design game isn’t so great as to design one from scratch, but when I’ve got parts? You best believe I’m gonna make something fun and cherish it greatly!

Anyway, what were we talking about?

Boy, lightsaber, tiny cute droid sidekick

The Star Wars Jedi games are fun. You’re a largely generic Jedi named Cal Kestis as he carves his way through Stormtroopers and leftover battle droids, set about a decade before A New Hope. He’s got his own cast of characters, hanging out on their own planets, in largely self-contained adventures. They’re pretty fun, but in my opinion, nothing remarkable. They’re also popular enough to warrant a threequel, and based on what I just played, I have some story ideas and other things I’d like to see in a third installment of this series.

So join me after the jump for six things I want to see in our next Cal Kestis adventure. Expect SOME SPOILERS for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as I cobble this list together. And feel free to share your own hopes and dreams in the comments below.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is Coming Sooner Than I Thought

I enjoyed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as much as the next gamer. And now we’ve got the sequel coming in only a month! Who knew it was coming so soon? Probably everybody. They put out these release dates way ahead of time. I guess I’ve just been too blinded looking forward to that new Zelda game in May. I’ll probably definitely get and play Survivor when it comes out. I’ve got to continuously justify splurging on this Playstation 5, after all.

Looks like fun. I still don’t care about Cal Kestis. People really love this guy, but he’s just a video game protagonist to me. And it looks like he’s getting up to all sorts of new mischief. Two lightsabers?! I think I played the first game on my PS4. I wonder if my PS5 can somehow read my saved games from my previous console to port over the lightsaber I designed. Or maybe we’ll all just design new lightsabers from scratch.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor comes out on April 28!

6 Thoughts on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out this week and I wanted to make the occasion with a Star Wars List of Six. I’ve done some great ones in the past, like my list of crazy alien Jedi or my list of other famous wookiees. But for this week’s List of Six, I’ve decided to give my review of another big recent Star Wars property: the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order!

Fallen Order Review 01

Comic Rating: 7/10 – Good.

I’ll probably also review Rise of Skywalker and even The Mandalorian soon, so look out for those. But now I want to delve into Fallen Order, the best Star Wars game in quite some time, and hopefully the herald of some new games going forward. It’s an original story with original characters, set in a very familiar universe. I was wary about the game based on the trailers. And while my concerns weren’t overcome, I still had fun with Fallen Order. It was a quick game, I beat it over two rental weekends, and now it’s time to be super late in my review!

Join me after the jump for my thoughts on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Expect some SPOILERS for the game in the review. And feel free to share your own review and thoughts in the comments!

The Last of Us II Joins Next Year’s Amazing Video Game Lineup

Next year is going to be crazy good for video games. I am most looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, which will hopefully be amazing. But we’re also getting that Avengers game, Watch Dogs: Legion, a new Vampire: The Masquerade and so much more!

Now we can add The Last of Us II to the list. It’s coming out on Feb. 21.

I didn’t get to play the original Last of Us until I finally splurged on a Playstation 4 last year. I enjoyed the game, but I wasn’t as blown away as everyone else seems to be. I think too much time had passed and too much of the game had infused into the world of video gaming. But it’s still a great story, and I’m excited for a sequel!

I especially enjoy the fact that the protagonist of The Last of Us II is a queer woman. You don’t see that very often, even in 2019.

Heck, the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is yet another white male, who I assume is going to be straight.

As much as I love Star Wars, I’m not particularly excited for Fallen Order. Every trailer I’ve seen paints the game as really on rails. The game seems to control what you do, where you go, who you fight, how you fight them; I’m a more open world sort of guy.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order comes out this year, on Nov. 15.

Some More Trailers for Neat Star Wars Stuff!

Star Wars Celebration went on all weekend, and after the big real of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and it’s trailer, we’ve now got trailers for a new video game and the resurrected season of the Clone Wars cartoon. So neat Star Wars stuff is still coming to our universe!

First up, let’s check out that sweet Clone Wars trailer!

Looks pretty neat! I was late in getting on board both Clone Wars and Rebels, but both turned out great! So another batch of Clone Wars episode should be sweet!

Then there’s the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It’s supposed to be a single-player game about a young padawan rising to become a Jedi in the post-Revenge of the Sith time period. I’m more hesitant about this.

I’ll see what the reviews say before I buy this game. This is a character/setting combination we’ve seen plenty of times before. Kanan Jarrus from Star Wars Rebels was exactly this. And I’m rather bummed that the main character is your standard bland white guy with brown hair. They couldn’t have come up with an alien padawan? Those existed, you know!

Sadly, Star Wars didn’t release the trailer for The Mandalorian TV show, despite playing it for the audience at Celebration. Wonder why they held that one back. Maybe they want to give it its own big release in a couple months.
