A Nice, Fun, LEGO Ghostbusters Way to Hopefully Start a Sad Monday

LEGOs are awesome. The Ghostbusters are awesome. When they come together, and when the Internet applies its magic, we get videos like this one.

Major props to the fine people at digitalwizards for this digital masterpiece.

Welp, Looks Like I’m Going Broke on Spider-Man LEGOs This Year

Toy Fair is rocking New York City this weekend, with all manner of cool toys and action figures on display. I need to go to Toy Fair some day, but sadly, not today. Thankfully, there Internet is here to show us what we’re missing, and it turns out that I’m probably going to be spending a lot of money on LEGOs this year. Specifically, Spider-Man LEGOs.

More specifically, there’s this bridge playset that features mini-figs of both the Scorpion, one of my favorite Spider-Man villains, and the Scarlet Spider, with whom my entire comics collection is partially indebted. You guys have no idea the depths to which I collect Scarlet Spider merchandise.

Ultimate Spider-Woman is awesome too

The playset itself is pretty awesome. I usually prefer vehicles, but that is a pretty confident looking section of bridge. Plus those characters are too good to pass up. Perhaps I could find them solo for far less money, but at this stage of the game, let’s pretend I’m a millionaire. Scarlet freakin’ Spider as a LEGO, that’s just mind-blowing. That’s the sort of thing my brother and I literally dreamed about as kids.

Check out the rest after the jump!

The New Ghostbusters are Getting LEGOs Too!

No sooner do I finally get my hands on the Ghostbusters LEGOs then a new Ecto-1 set is announced for the new Ghostbusters movie. Man, what’s single, childless adult man with disposable income supposed to do? This is, honestly, almost the exact same set.

Ghostbuster New LEGO 02

And I still want it! Look at the detail, look at the characters, look at the new Ecto-1! It’s gorgeous!

You’ll also notice that they added Chris Hemsworth’s character to the set, whereas Annie Potts wasn’t in the original Ghostbusters’ set. Hmmm. Still, the whole thing looks great! And you can see some more pics and some close-ups here.

I Assume My Co-Workers Spent Their Holiday Bonus on Something More Practical

My company handed out the annual Holiday/Christmas bonus last week, and I kind of went a little overboard with mine. I assume my co-workers were probably more responsible with the money…but not me.

Booyah!

This was why I had such a good day on Wednesday. This is the ultimate holiday splurge. I feel like a kid in a toy store…which is literally what happened.

Recently, my office has been handing out Christmas bonuses as pre-paid, universal gift cards. The responsible, adult thing to do would be to maybe spend that money on groceries or bills. But for the first time in a few years, I’m not flat broke at Christmas, so I’m not clutching at a Christmas bonus like some desperate lifesaver.

So boom, free money! Retail therapy!

I went to Toys R Us looking for a big, expansive LEGO set. I’ve never had a big, expansive LEGO set. I kind of imagine that they’re awesome. But there just weren’t many good ones available. Maybe the new Force Awakens Millennium Falcon, or the Star Destroyer, but both of those were actually more than my Christmas bonus.

When it comes to LEGOs, I prefer vehicle models over playsets. Give me the Batmobile over the Batcave any day. Vehicles are one, solid, clear object. Playsets are whatever the LEGO designers feel like designing.

So there I was, scouring the LEGO wall at Toys R Us, and two of the greatest recent models jump out at me. I don’t know when I’ll get around to building them, but it’s going to be a blast. Sometimes I love being a geek.

It’s a Zombie Nazi Sort of Day!

I didn’t expect today to be a Zombie Nazi sort of day, it just kind of happened. I found this video of a LEGO Captain America mini-movie (Captain America 3, apparently), and it’s all about LEGO Cap fighting off a bunch of LEGO Zombie Nazis! It’s awesomely animated, gory as hell and has a sweet ending!

All kudos to Forrest Fire for the excellent video. Their LEGO animation skills are the bomb diggity! Be sure to watch all the way to the end!

And while we’re on the topic of Zombie Nazis (quite different from Nazi zombies), I’d also like to introduce you to one of the funniest songs ever! This is from Rob Zombie’s movie The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, which is a pretty terrible movie, but which has a pretty hilarious Zombie Nazi song about a third of the way in. It’s probably NSFW due to the cussin’.

Only good part of that movie. I just saved you a couple of painful hours.
