I’m Not Sure What Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is Bringing to the Table

We got a new trailer yesterday for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and I just…I don’t know what this movie is going to offer us. Obviously we’re going to get more of Godzilla and King Kong, and I’ve enjoyed the Monsterverse movies so far. But what is this new film really bringing to the table?

The trailer spends all this time teasing something dangerous and deadly coming…and then reveals that to be a rather lanky orangutan? There are hints of another monsters, and I’ve seen some of the leaked images, but that monster doesn’t look all that amazing. And neither monster is a classic Toho monster of old reimagined into this new ‘verse. So what exactly does this movie bring to the table?

I guess I’ll find out when I see it in theaters on March 29!

Pink Godzilla is Coming

It’s a good time to be a Godzilla fan. I just saw Godzilla Minus One this weekend, and it was great! Awesome monster stuff, and a very touching human story. I teared up in the end! And then we’ve got Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is a really fun show about the Monsterverse. They managed to pull that off!

And now we’ve got the first trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

It looks pretty crazy. These new Godzilla and Kong films have really gone off the rails since the more grounded first film in 2014. And we used up the likes of Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah ages ago (still waiting on my fave, Anguirus!). So I guess they’re going to team up and take on a balding orangutan villain in Middle Earth? I suppose we’ll see!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire comes to theaters on April 12!

Let’s Get All Godzilla Up in Here!

Godzilla Minus One comes out in America in early December, and the Toho Company is really ramping up the awesomeness. The movie looks great and looks to be very cool. You can see for yourself with this new trailer.

Beyond that trailer, they’ve also produced a 10-minute YouTube short about Godzilla fighting Megalon. Because why the hell not?! They’ve got this CGI Godzilla model, why not put him to good use and stomp Megalon? There are some rumors I’ve seen online that Godzilla will fight another monster in Minus One, but we don’t have proof of that yet — or at least I don’t. So enjoy Godzilla fighting Megalon!

And then we can all enjoy Godzilla Minus One in a month…or earlier, if you already live in Japan.

Another Look At That Godzilla-Adjacent TV Show

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters comes to AppleTV+ in one month, and we’ll all get to see how much Godzilla is actually in the show. Is he only going to appear in the first episode? Is he going to be a co-star? A cameo? What’s the Rodan quota? Anyway, the show looks good and I’ll definitely watch, and here’s another trailer to start your Monday.

Like I said, the show looks great. The CGI looks top notch, possibly because they already had access to the Godzilla computer models from the movies. That’s a great way to think. So we’ll see how it goes. Will it live up to any previous Godzilla TV adaptation? Like that cartoon from the 1990s that featured the U.S. version of Godzilla? Perhaps it will be even better than that.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters comes to streaming on Nov. 17.

Buncha Godzilla Stuff Incoming

Godzilla is great. I’ve been loving Godzilla since I was a little kid, so who doesn’t love new Godzilla movies? We’ve got a Godzilla vs. Kong sequel on its way to the big screen, but this post is not about that movie. Instead, we’ve got a trailer for Godzilla: Minus One, made by Toho in Japan!

Damn, that looks cool. I need to watch those modern Toho Godzilla movies. They have given the big guy a great design and this movie looks like so much fun! I love the parts where we get up-close scenes of Godzilla’s feet walking among and upon the people. It’s funny and terrifying.

Godzilla: Minus One is coming to Japan on Dec. 1!

Meanwhile, coming to the rest of the world is a Monarch TV show. Based on the SHIELD-esque agency that monitors giant monsters, Monarch looks like it’s going to be to monster movies what The Walking Dead is to zombie movies: a show about the people living and surviving in the classic movie genre. And they seem to be putting a lot of money into using movie Godzilla to his full effect.

A TV show with movie-quality Godzilla stomping around? Heck yeah! Sounds like fun. What will the actual episodes be about? I don’t know. Will Godzilla feature in every episode? Probably not. Will we finally get Anguirus, my favorite monster? I sure hope so!

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is coming to AppleTV+ on Nov. 17.
