The X-Men: Apocalypse Trailers Just Get Bigger and Bigger

There’s a new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer today, and while we don’t get any sign of Multiple Man, a few more familiar mutants show up.

I’m definitely going to see this movie, and I’ll probably enjoy it. But I don’t think I have any excitement left for the X-Men franchise. Their movies just keep coming and coming, a never-ending barrage of general OKness. It lacks the excitement that comes from Captain America: Civil War. Just sayin’.

Looks Like the Blob is in X-Men: Apocalypse! Neat!

If you didn’t know already, the Blob is one of my favorite comic book characters. He’s definitely my favorite X-villain. There’s just something really down-to-Earth about the Blob that I like. He’s not some maniacal supervillain trying to take over the world. He’s a blue collar bad guy, a regular mutant who could have, just as easily, been a member of the X-Men. He’s as much a mutant as the rest of them. But he’s also an asshole, and he took another path. So he’s a favorite of mine, and it looks like he’ll show up in X-Men: Apocalypse! Director Bryan Singer posted this online this weekend.

So Angel defeated Blob with his wings?

That’s definitely the Blob. Note the yellow stripes on his outfit and boots. That’s his signature comics look.

So awesome! As you may or may not know, Blob appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But he could be rebooted thanks to Days of Future Past. We don’t yet really know how all of that works. But it also, hopefully, leaves the door open to a new version of Multiple Man in movie continuity! Please!

Doctor Who Has a New Companion!

Pearl Mackie will join Doctor Who in the 10th season as new companion Bill. I’ve never heard of Pearl Mackie, so I have zero opinion on her casting. Fortunately, the BBC has provided this little clip of what she and Peter Capaldi might be like together.

It’s nifty. I like her. She could be a lot of fun. What do you henchies think?

My favorite companion of all time is Donna Noble. Could Bill live up to those lofty heights? We shall see when Doctor Who returns…I think sometime next year. Weird.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/23/16

Welcome to another thrilling installment of Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews! We’ve got a plate of wonderful comics today, including some of my current favorites, like Astonishing Ant-Man. Some of my review columns have been a little light over the past month, and if you’ve been wondering why, it’s because I’m nearing the end of a Kickstarter campaign for my own comic, Gamer Girl & Vixen!

This week is the final week of the campaign. We’re so close to hitting our goal that I can taste it! But the nerves have kind of dulled me to every other awesome thing in the world right now. So if you’d like to order a copy of my own comic, head on over and pick one up. Every little bit counts at this point!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Power Man and Iron Fist #3, which continues to be a wonderfully entertaining comic. Hopefully my own comic book work can be this good someday.

Not every problem can be solved with mystical kung fu

Comic Reviews: Astonishing Ant-Man #7, Captain Marvel #4, Power Man and Iron Fist #3, and Totally Awesome Hulk #5.

Movie Trailer Friday

I don’t know why this week has resulted in so many new movie trailers. But here’s one for Independence Day: Resurgence! Because why not?

This…does not look good. It looks big and loud and CGI. The great thrill of the first movie was that it showed the real Earth fighting against the aliens. This new, ‘future’ Earth is all fancy technology and CGI advancement. This does not look like Independence Day. This looks like any other space adventure. Poor sequel.
