Merry Christmas, From Ted Lasso
I love the TV show Ted Lasso. It’s great! They did a Christmas episode in their second season, and produced some little Rankin Bass-style stop motion figurines of their main characters for the title sequence. It was fun. And rather than let those figurines go to waste, they produced a full holiday short video!
That’s just cute. Why not enjoy this kind of fun? If you’re making a TV show, surely it’s a blast to do a side project where you make your own little Christmas short? At least I imagine it would be fun.
Can’t wait for season 3! Also, Nate sucks.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/18/21
Well it happened. I saw Spider-Man: No Way Home. And it was amazing! It was spectacular! Oh man, it was better than I had any possible guess! No bloat. No wrong turns. Just pure greatness! Expect my full review on Wednesday, like usual.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Robin & Batman #2 because I am a sucker for some great Robin stories. There are a lot of such stories this week, but I prefer classic Batman and Robin stuff to all the Robins being a team.
Meanwhile, I started playing the Guardians of the Galaxy video game and it’s a lot of fun. Nothing groundbreaking or innovative, just a really fun, interactive story about the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s neat. Also, I regret to report that I have finally dropped Wonder Girl. It’s just not for me.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #81, Batgirls #1, Robin & Batman #2, Robins #3 and Strange Academy #14.

I’m a big action figure aficionado. I have a nice, big collection, mostly made up of my favorite comic book characters. They’re fun collectibles. And another one of my favorites is getting the Marvel Legends treatment in the upcoming year.
Behold, Maggott the action figure!
He will come with his signature slugs, they’re just not in this one early picture of the figure. I can be patient. This baby will come out sometime in 2022 and I’mma gonna scoop it right up and add it to my collection. Oh to live in a world where Maggott is finally getting his due!

6 Other Spider-themed Heroes and Villains (Again Not Spider-Man)
Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out this week and we are going to celebrate that greatness with another Spider-Man-themed List of Six! That’s how search engines and internet synergy work, right? Honestly, I have no idea. More web-savvy readers would be shocked at how little I know about making this blog work. But enough about me, how about spider-based comic book characters?
Once upon a time, I wrote a list of spider-themed heroes and villains other than Spider-Man. Because there are a lot. I’ve decided to do that list again, because there are a lot. It’s just plain fun! From Marvel to DC to Image to beyond, spiders make for good characters. Or they also make for bad characters! We’re about to find out!
Join me after the jump for six more spider-themed comic book characters!

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is coming! And proof that nobody originally intended this to be a 5-movie epic is that “Fantastic Beasts” umbrella. It just doesn’t work anymore. But who am I to judge? I’m not making movies. I’m just sitting here amazed that somebody in power feels this franchise has legs.
I did not like the last Fantastic Beasts movie. I have zero interest in Dumbledore’s secret brother. This franchise has one job: just tell more stories in the Harry Potter Universe. And yet two films in, it’s already upturned the table and is just gonna go hog wild doing whatever it wants. More power to it, I suppose.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore arrives in theaters on April 15.
