This is How You Sell The Avengers Movie

We’ve already had two Incredible Hulk movies (and I liked them both), but only with The Avengers do we finally get a scene like what happens in this TV commercial. My God, it makes my insides quiver with nerdy excitement. Every single The Avengers commercial I have seen has so far been awesome. But this one takes the freakin’ cake!

Review: Ultimate Comics: All-New Spider-Man #9

A switch in focus from Spider-Man to Prowler brings with it a dip in quality in the latest issue of Ultimate Spider-Man, but only because Miles Morales has become so entertaining. We don’t know much about Uncle Aaron quite yet, so he just didn’t make as compelling a protagonist this issue. Still, it’s a good idea to flesh out the supporting cast and play up the danger of new villain, the Scorpion. So this was an important tale, just not as entertaining.

Ultimate Spider-Man #9

And sadly, what little we did get of our young hero, wasn’t very interesting.

Comic rating: 4/5: Good.

We get another new fill-in artist this issue, David Marquez, but his style is very similar to regular artist Sara Pichelli, so I didn’t even know there was a change until I was more than halfway through the issue. So the art is quite good. But as I said, the bulk of this issue is a fight between Prowler and Scorpion. It’s a pretty standard fight, and moderately entertaining. It serves to flesh out both characters a little bit more, while setting up the eventual cliffhanger and conflict for this story: Uncle Aaron is going to try and get his nephew Spider-Man to help him fight Scorpion.

At least that sounds like it’s going to be very exciting! Join me after the jump for a synopsis and more.

An Animal Man Cartoon is Now a Thing

I’ve cheered the DC Nation animation block on Cartoon Network several times before, and now I’m here to do it again! A tiny snippet of a preview of an Animal Man animated short has hit the web, and it’s just as delightful as the Super Best Friends Forever clips! If not moreso. The ‘theme music’ for Animal Man just squeals “turn me into a full time show immediately!”

Check it out:

Hopefully the full-length clip will be available sometime this weekend.

World of Warcraft Legos are Real!

If by ‘real’ you understand that to mean they’re coming out soon.

And if by ‘Legos’ you understand that to mean the crappy knock-off Mega Bloks.

But still, Mega Bloks has gone ahead and actually made World of Warcraft playsets! They’ve got almost a dozen already, including dragons, monsters, and more. And each one comes with a few tiny little WoW characters! You can check out all of the models here, but I’ve posted some of my favorites. Check this one out, it’s the Goblin Zeppelin!

It even comes with a tiny little Tauren!

You may recall that World of Warcraft was at the top of my list of 6 properties that need to be made into Legos, so this is kind of a dream come true. I know that Mega Bloks are inferior products, but I may just have to buy myself some of these models. They just look cool. The figurines are much more detailed and expressive than Lego mini-figs, and the designs are just fantastic. Oddly, though, there are no female figurines. Which is weird, considering how many female WoW players there are – and how many men play as female characters. Still, most of the races are represented, like my favorite, the orcs.

The actual figurines don't look as good as they do on the box

Apparently these sets are going to come out this summer. There is a mix of single figurine sets, like the orc one above, and sets with mounts and other vehicles. If you’re wondering how Mega Blok is going to get actual building sets out of these, I don’t need to remind you that World of Warcraft has started including actual vehicles. They have rockets, whirlybirds, tanks, and even this goblin motorcycle.

Because medieval motorcycles make all kind of sense

The Doctor Who RPG by College Humor

Sadly, this isn’t real. But quite honestly, after watching this video, how can anybody make sense of Doctor Who? Sheesh! The geniuses at College Humor have put together a video showcasing Doctor Who as if it were a 16-bit RPG from the Super Nintendo era. It’s funny, but mostly it’s insane. But it sticks very closely to the actual episodes, so it’s the show Doctor Who that’s really the insane one!

Fans will love his. People who don’t watch Doctor Who won’t have any idea what’s going on.

SPOILERS: This contains spoilers to seasons 5 and 6 of Doctor Who, the Matt Smith years. Don’t watch if you haven’t seen those episodes yet!
