6 Avengers I Want to Play in the Upcoming Video Game
The new Avengers video game comes out in a month. The playable beta will open any day now, to give players their first hands-on experience with the game. And announcements are dropping left and right about future features. This is my next big video game purchase and it looks pretty cool so far.
But how do we make it cooler?
I still don’t have a firm grasp on what exactly this game is going to be like. From all that we’ve seen so far — and we’ve seen a lot — it appears to be a game where we take familiar Avengers and just go beat up a bunch of robots for a while. I’m not sure how that’s going to translate into a service game that keeps players engaged for months, but then they don’t pay me the big bucks. The one thing we do know for sure is that the game will be full of playable characters! Just in the past few weeks, we learned that Hawkeye will be added to the game before too long, and Spider-Man will be a Playstation exclusive early next year. There were also hints when the game was announced that Ant-Man would be joining at some point.
So considering all I really care about is which of my favorite superheroes I’ll get to beat up a bunch of robots with…let’s pick which Avengers I want to see show up in the game as future playable characters!

I don’t review very many video games on this blog because I don’t consider myself a video game reviewer at all. I’m a pretty bad comic book and movie reviewer, why would I subject anyone to my thoughts on video games? I usually either like them or don’t. I also usually take forever to play a game. I’m not about to cram through an entire video game in a weekend to get my review up on time. That’s not this kind of blog.
But The Last of Us Part 2 is such a self-contained game that I’ve decided to share my thoughts with the world now that I’ve finished — roughly two and a half weeks after it came out.
Video game rating: 10/10 – Fantastic!
The Last of Us Part 2 is the subject of a lot of controversy on the internet, because deep down, the internet sucks and brings out the worst in people. This game also deals with a lot of sensitive topics, and people have thoughts on those. Some people also just don’t like the game and want to talk about that. So it’s really only to benefit me that I feel the need to share my thoughts with the world. What’s one more voice among the masses?
I don’t know. All I know is that I played a video game and loved every second of it. Join me after the jump for my thoughts. Expect FULL SPOILERS for both The Last of Us Part 2 and the first game.

Sorry folks, no comic book reviews this week. Both Marvel and DC essentially took the week off on new releases, and anything that did come out was not on my read list. And as much fun as it probably would have been, I just didn’t feel like scrambling through all six issues of Hawkeye: FreeFall.
I’m also sitting pretty on a 4-day weekend this American holiday and just didn’t feel like tracking down anything else to read and review. So I got nothing on this fine Saturday!
I did discover Girlfriend Reviews on YouTube last night and they’ve been pretty fun to watch. In fact, their latest issue sums up rather nicely everything I loved about The Last of Us Part 2. MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS VIDEO!
I’m going to have my review/thoughts on The Last of Us Part 2 next Wednesday, so stay tuned for that! And I should have some new Gamer Girl & Vixen content in the week ahead. So next week should be pretty fun for everybody!
It’s just that today isn’t going to be all that great. But hey, Happy Fourth of July!

There is a Cerberus Ranger and I Am All About That
The other day, I took a deep dive into the Power Rangers wiki while looking up information on Yellow Power Ranger Aisha Campbell, as one does. And I stumbled upon something called Power Rangers HyperForce. It’s apparently some kind of tabletop RPG played over Twitch…or something. I don’t know, none of that is my scene. Heck, I don’t even really care all that much about any power Rangers beyond the Mighty Morphin era.
So it helps that HyperForce is clearly an homage to those great original Ranger years. They’ve even got a HyperForce Green with his own golden shield.
But don’t worry about that. We’re here to talk about HyperForce Black…the Cerberus Ranger! Also, the first Black Ranger to be a woman, so that’s cool. Her name is Vesper Vasquez and she was played by Cristina Vee.
And she’s got a cool three-headed ax! It transforms into a shield!
Like any red-blooded American white kid growing up in the middle class, I was big into Greek mythology when I was in elementary and middle schools. It was my jam. And my favorite Greek monster was Cerberus, the three-headed hellhound that guarded the gates of the Underworld.
Honestly, I’m not trying to make any larger point here. Cerberus was my favorite Greek myth monster. I remain a fan to this day, even going so far as to make a whole List of Six on this blog of various Cerberus incarnations in pop culture. Cerberus is just cool.
And the other day, I discovered a Cerberus-based Power Ranger. Complete with a Cerberus Zord!
I’m not made of stone, people. I am still as much of a geek as I’ve always been. And this is exactly the sort of geeky thing I drool over! There’s no point to it. Nothing about this is going to impact my life in any way. It’s just a random, weird combination of some of my favorite geeky things and I am tickled to the highest levels of pink!

Cyberpunk 2077 Can’t Come Soon Enough!
I say Cyberpunk 2077 can’t come soon enough because it keeps getting pushed back! The new release date is Nov. 19 — my brother’s birthday — and I’m just going to have to keep being patient. I cannot wait to play this game! It’s hopefully going to be the grand, open world RPG of my dreams!
Here’s a new trailer.
The folks at CD PROJEKT RED have started letting some game reviewers play some demos, and it’s sounding good. I’m liking what I’m hearing. I think I have a pretty good handle on what this game is going to be, and I definitely can’t wait!
To tide us over, CD PROJEKT RED has also started something called Night City Wire, which shows off even more game footage.
So at the very least, we’ve gotten some great looks at what Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be in November!
