TV is Finally Looking to Me for Ideas
Being the Internet’s foremost authority on henchmen, I can only assume that NBC was checking out my blog when they got the idea to start production on a TV show called Hench. Deadline may say that it’s based on an old Adam Beechen comic book, but I’d like to think I know otherwise. Seriously, though, NBC is working on a TV show about henchmen!
I have long since recognized the fictional opportunities presented by henchmen. They’re just such an untapped market. They appear everywhere, but are always treated as just henchmen. There’s a lot of storytelling potential when looking into the minds of what makes these guys tick, and what they get up to in their daily lives.
The show is described thusly:
A regular guy who, in order to support his family, gets jobs temping for super villains.
That sounds kind of neat. So it sounds like we’ll be seeing multiple super-villains, that could be cool. I like that studio execs are thinking outside the box. They tried to make a straight up superhero TV show – The Cape – but that bombed spectacularly. So now they’re looking into the fringes of this popular genre.
I will do my best to keep everyone informed of this show’s progress. For example, if we ever hear anything ever again about this show, I’ll let you know.
Almost Shark Week
Everybody loves and fears Shark Week on the Discovery Channel…but what about Animals Acting Like Sharks Week? I could watch that for hours! Thank you, Revision3!
Conan the Khajit Barbarian, or, Conan O’Brien vs. Skyrim
American Late Night host Conan O’Brien tries his hand at love, chickens and Skyrim, with hilarious consequences.
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship!
The new Doctor Who season 7 trailer is here!
That was surely exciting! Dinosaurs! Spaceships! The Wild West! And a whole heck of a lot of Daleks! I can’t wait for the new season of Doctor Who this fall. I am a big fan of Stephen Moffatt and Matt Smith on the series, they have done an exciting job with the Doctor. Who didn’t love that big question teaser at the end of season 6, c’mon!?
Also, I read a spoiler online for a very awesome Weeping Angels episode…I can’t wait to see it!
The Dark and Gritty Power Rangers
Because everything’s going dark and gritty these days.
Though honestly, that was kind of badass. I was a huge fan of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers when I was a kid, and I can still remember being picked on a little at school about it. The idea of a group of teenagers getting chosen to have great powers and fight evil spoke right to the superhero fan inside of me. I didn’t care that most of the episodes were repetitive or that there wasn’t much character depth, it was just a fun show.
And, of course, the Green Ranger was the absolute greatest.
Well apparently some group called Limitless Films is going to make a gritty Power Rangers web series! Or they want to. I dunno. But they definitely made the above trailer, and I think they did a damn fine job with it. I hope to see more of this project.
