These Are So Soothing
I stumbled upon these videos this weekend, and I figured they would make a great start to the week! This guy has created a bunch of smooth, stop-motion LEGO builds! Here’s the Death Star!
I love LEGO. I love building the models and putting it all together and letting the magic happen. So this is my kind of video. It’s so smooth and soothing, like magic.
You can see a bunch more of these on the Bart van Dijk Youtube page!

The 6 Most Badass Moments From the Darth Vader Comic
Darth Vader is a badass. We’ve always known this. It’s written into our code as science fiction-loving human beings. But how often do we actually get to see him be a badass? His lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan is a couple of old dudes knocking some sticks together. He can’t stop Luke Skywalker from blowing up the Death Star. He leaves it up to a bounty hunter to find the Millennium Falcon. And mostly he’s either whining over his wife or whining over his son. The dude is the most menacing villain in the history of cinema, but the movies leave a lot to be desired.
Fortunately, that’s where the comics come in!
Ever since Marvel took over writing Star Wars comics, they have been doing a real bang up job. Writer Kireon Gillen and artist Salvador Larocca were on the Darth Vader comic, which lasted 25 regular issues and a couple bonus issues. The series came to an end last week in grand fashion. This was one hell of a comic. The Darth Vader series presented the Dark Lord of the Sith in ways we’ve never been before. This was a Vader unrestrained by a special effects budget or story choices that focus on Luke. This was a Darth Vader powerful in the Dark Side and loyal to the Empire. This was Darth Vader as a force of nature head of state who commands fear and respect wherever he goes!
And to celebrate this awesome series, I went back through my issues and picked out six of the coolest moments from Marvel’s Darth Vader comics! Hopefully this will convince you to pick up the series if you haven’t already. Join me after the jump!
Super Big, Fan-Spliced Trailer for Rogue One is Pretty Neat
Did you guys hear there was a new Star Wars movie coming out this year?
Once again, I wish I had some actual skill when it comes to video editing. I know how to do it, but man, I could never pull off something this good. The world has passed me by! Fortunately, I can always just go see Rogue One in December! Major props to Science vs. Cinema for putting this together.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/15/16
I need to stop convincing myself that I’m in good enough shape to go to Comic-Con. Maybe once upon a time I could handle it, but oh boy, last weekend in New York was misery! I had a lot of fun hanging out with my friends, but I was so winded and worn out that I didn’t actually see anything at Comic-Con. The most I can say is that I made it into the building and found a couple of nice chairs.
A two-hour line to get in will do that to you…
Anyway, the experience has not soured me on comics in general, and we’ve got some nice ones this week. Great Lakes Avengers and Mosaic kick off at Marvel, and I’ve decided to try Superwoman again. But the Comic of the Week goes to the final issue of Darth Vader for being its usual badass self!
On the chopping block is the new Supergirl series. After two issues, I just don’t think it’s for me and I won’t be reviewing it going forward. I’m sure Supergirl fans will be happy with it, but I find it kind of mundane.
Comic Reviews: Darth Vader #25, Great Lakes Avengers #1,Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy #5, Mosaic #1, Power Man & Iron Fist #9 and Superwoman #3.
Rebellions Are Built on Hope!
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has always been in our future, though without any of the excitement of The Force Awakens. But at least the people involved with the movie can make a damn good trailer!
I think this might be my most favorite trailer yet for Rogue One! It reveals a lot of story, boosts some real emotions and better defines out main character. Looks like we could have a winner! And I’m even more excited now about the possibilities of a new Expanded Universe.
