“It’s’a me, Mario!” – The 8-bit Opera

Once again the Internet brings the funny with this hilarious song parody of Super Mario Bros. It was made by Legolambs, the brilliant creators of the Arnold Schwarzenegger musicals. Check out this Mario song, then follow that link to some of the others. Conan: The Musical! is particularly brilliant.

Hogwarts Students Were Doin’ It, and You Know It!

Let me lay some truth on you people: the students at Hogwarts, definitely the older ones, were knocking boots all up and down that castle. Maybe not Harry and his pals, because they had other stuff to do, but what about the rest of those 15, 16 and 17-year-olds who weren’t saving the world every week or hopelessly pining after their best friend or their best friend’s sister?

I mean, c’mon, the dormitories were co-ed!

This revelation comes from the boys and girls of Not Literally, I think. At least that’s the name of the person who uploaded it to Youtube.

Alas, if only you could apparate within Hogwarts’ walls.

Thanks to Topless Robot for the find.

Songs of Skyrim

There’s an awesome new role-playing video game out this week, called Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim! It’s a sword and sorcery epic, where you create your own legendary character and take them on amazing adventures through the land of Skyrim. The Internet is awash with praise for this game. I can’t wait to play it, but I’m going to have to wait until I’m less broke. Until there, the Internet has been kind enough to give us some hilariously awesome, fan-made songs about Skyrim to tide me over!

They were made by some group called Harry Patridge. The songs are brilliant and the animation is fantastic!

A Doctor Who Musical Celebration

I’m a big Doctor Who fan, at least the recent revival since 2005. The show is a mega hit and shows no signs of slowing down or losing steam. That’s in large part to the fact that they’re constantly changing up the actors and the producers. Doctor Who keeps the same character – The Doctor – but it’s written into his mythology that he regenerates into a new body every time his mortal body is killed. That’s a great excuse for getting a new lead actor into the show and surrounding him with new sidekicks.

Well at the end of the fourth season, show-runner Russell T. Davies, the guy who launched the revival in 2005, left Doctor Who. It also marked the departure of producer Julie Gardner and current Doctor actor David Tennant (as well as Tennant’s era of sidekicks). Tennant had been around for three seasons and was hugely popular, so him, Davies and Gardner leaving was a huge deal.

The show’s still been great since they left, but that whole era had some real charm.

Which has been nicely captured in a pair of farewell videos that the actors produced for the Fourth Season Wrap Party that are only now reaching the Internet. Enjoy some Doctor Who based musical fun!

The first is sung by Tennant and sidekicks Catherine Tate (my favorite Who sidekick) and John Barrowman. It’s an ode to Davies and Gardner covering their entire production run of Doctor Who.

The second is Tennant leading the entire cast and crew in a rousing chorus of ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ by The Proclaimers.

Robot Bar Fight 4 Hire

If you haven’t heard of Your Favourite Martian, this band has produced a number of music videos that I feel must be shared with the world.  I’ve taken it upon myself to educate the ignorant masses with this slice of sheer brilliance.  Enjoy.
