Christmas elves, lightsabers and holiday cheer 4 Hire
The elves of Father Christmas bring a bit of holiday magic to the season. And by holiday magic, I mean the Force. But is hokey religion any match for a good blaster? Find out!
I Feel Bad for Alfred Enoch
I finally watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2 over the weekend. They were great. As good as all the rest of the Harry Potter movies. There were some scenes that didn’t live up to the awesomeness of the book – like Molly Weasley’s big moment, and Neville killing the snake – and I wish they’d given Snape a better death. But overall, they were great movies and a fine finale to the Harry Potter saga.
I just feel really bad for Alfred Enoch, the actor who played Dean Thomas.
Find out why after the jump.
I Now Know What Everybody’s Getting for Christmas
Or at least for the male members of my family. DC Superhero themed boxer briefs! And not just any old superhero underoos, we’re talking classy underwear with actual super powers. Like, I guess, the Flash boxers warm up when you wear them. And the Green Lantern boxers glow in the dark. The Joker boxers are just in bad taste. About as bad as this video.
That Joker is a maverick renegade! I guess nobody told them that the Joker is a homicidal maniac?
Here are the actual boxers for your viewing pleasure. They’re made by some company called Diesel, because that’s the perfect name for an underwear company. I think my favorites are Batman, because they made the boxers look like his armor, and the Joker, because it just looks like fun.

General Skyrimming
So the other day I introduced everyone to my Skyrim character: Tannenbaum the orc warrior. I trust many of my readers are playing Skyrim as well, and I thought perhaps they’d be interested in seeing what Tannenbaum has been up to. I know I’d be interested in hearing about your characters or your Skyrim adventures. Post some in the comments!
Anyway, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is much like any other massive role-playing game. I travel the countryside slaying trolls and zombies, I visit towns with NPCs who have fetch quests, and trust me, a random stranger, to deliver letters are parcels for them on the other side of the country. Some quests are fun. Some are gruesome. A lot of them involve sieging dungeons and tombs. I’m having a blast. At one point I used a wicked dagger to cut through the roots of the world’s oldest tree, which lived in a hidden grove. I then used the dagger to collect some sap from the tree, only for the tree to get pissed and create a bunch of wood monsters to come at me. I slew them all…but not before the wood monsters shamelessly slaughtered the peace-loving hippies who were visiting the hidden grove.
And the hippies had warned me against messing with the tree. Oh well.
One of the coolest parts is killing dragons.
You’d think dragons would be a pretty big deal, and they are. They’re part of the storyline. But at the same time, dragons are randomly spawning creatures. Just as if you were wandering in the woods and came upon a wolf or a bear, you can randomly come upon a dragon. Tannenbaum slayed this one with his mighty axe.
But the game isn’t all questing and slaying monsters. There’s also a hobby portion. Tannenbaum has taken up blacksmithing, where he can make his own armor and weaponry, either for use or for sale.
Here, Tannenbaum made his trust sidekick, Lydia, some matching golden armor.
Until next time Tannenbaum does something worth sharing, everybody have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Continuing with my Fairy Tale Theme
So I’m still rather new at this whole blogging thing. I mean, I still haven’t been issued my official membership card. I had to draw one one construction paper, and they didn’t accept it at the cool blogging clubs! Anyway, I got an e-mail the other day from www.babysittingjobs.com asking for me to plug their site. I’m torn between whether it’s spam or legit…and I’m going to err on the side of ‘why the hell not’ and go with the latter. Maybe they really do like my blog. It could happen.
And I’m a firm believer in peace in the blogosphere.
Anyway, so they wrote up a list of ‘The 10 Reasons I Miss Mother Goose Stories’. Check it out if you’ve got some time to spare.
They’re probably also really good for babysitting jobs.
