6 Things I Want to See in Superman: Legacy

The world of comic book movie discussions is on fire with all the updates we get from James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. It’s maddening. Though it’s self-inflicted. If I just stopped visiting comic book movie news sites, I wouldn’t be so inundated. But those same news sites are what told me that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan had been cast as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively.

My Adventures with Superman starts this weekend

That’s neat. I don’t know anything about Corenswet and don’t know if I’ve seen him in anything, whereas I love Brosnahan in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and was hoping she’d get the part. She should be great! And I trust writer/director James Gunn in casting Corenswet. I’m sure he’ll be great. So what do I want from a new Superman movie? The Christopher Reeves movies were before my time and I have no real thoughts on them. I don’t care for Superman Returns. And I don’t care for Man of Steel. So what do I actually want?

Top 6 Comic Book Whippers

A new Indiana Jones movies is coming out this weekend, so I’ve decided to do a List of Six about whips. Yep, that’s the connection. That’s the whole driving force of this article on my blog on this auspicious Wednesday. But not just any characters who use whips, but comic book characters specifically. Because that’s my driving force.

Whip it, whip it good

My first thought for this list was old actors who could also come back to revive a favorite franchise from my childhood, but I couldn’t really think of any that aren’t already being done. So then I just moved on to Indiana Jones using an iconic whip, and that some comic book characters use whips or whip-like weapons. And boom, there’s my thought process on putting this List of Six together.

Join me after the jump for the top six comic book characters who use whips as their primary weapon. Because why not? What have you got to lose?

6 Thoughts on The Flash (Review)

After seemingly a bajillion years in development, running through directors like how Flash runs through hamburgers, The Flash movie has finally been released in theaters. It’s not doing well at the box office at all, and is likely to be another flop for DC Comics on the big screen. So be it. I went into this movie prepared to dislike it, but found myself generally entertained.

Movie Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good

I am no fan of the Snyderverse. It means nothing to me, especially at this point. I have generally liked the Flash in his Justice League movie appearances, and I’m all for a Flash solo movie. I think it’s silly they went for Flashpoint again. The Flash has been published continuously for decades, but the only story anybody can adapt is one written a couple of years ago? And wasn’t that great to begin with? Ah well, who am I to complain?

6 Zippiest Comic Book Speedsters (Other than the Flash)

The Flash movie is finally coming out this week, so we’re going to celebrate comic book speedsters! Super speed is a classic super power, so it only makes sense that I take a good, long look at all the other super speedy superheroes out there in comic book land. What better way to honor the Fastest Man Alive?

He looks shiny and thick

There will be plenty of restrictions to this list. I only want to focus on characters whose main deal is super speed. Superman has super speed among his powers, but he doesn’t count. (Also, in my opinion, the Fast is faster than Superman.) Also, I don’t want to use any of the Flash’s sidekicks, allies or villains. They all have super speed, and would take up the list entirely. I want this list to be about other speedsters, ones who don’t get the movies or get much focus. The unsung speedsters of the comic book world, if you will!

So join me after the jump for six of the slickest speedsters in all of comic books!

6 Thoughts on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

I had plenty of doubts about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse when it was first announced. Sony usually makes the worst possible decisions when it comes to their ownership of the Spider-Man franchise, so an animated film? No thank you. But I was wrong, so very wrong, and Into the Spider-Verse was amazing. I had zero doubts about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I knew it was going to be great, and it was! Simple as that. Best, most exciting movie experience of the year so far.

Movie Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic

Across the Spider-Verse surprised me in a lot of ways, with a lot of choices they made. It had all the Easter Eggs and callbacks and twists one could hope for. There’s a metric ton of Spider-People, and they clearly had fun with the cameos and the choices. I couldn’t be happier with all of that zaniness. The people making these movies know exactly what they’re doing, and now I can’t wait for next year’s Beyond the Spider-Verse.
