6 Things I Want in the Captain America, Iron Man and Thor Sequels
The Avengers 2 is the most obvious decision a movie studio has ever made. It’s going to come out. But before we experience that awesomeness, we’re going to have to sit through Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2. Such suffering, I know. The first two are going to arrive in theaters as early as next year, and Captain America 2 is scheduled for 2014. These movies are already planned, with plot outlines and possibly even scripts at the ready. Iron Man 3 begins filming in only a few weeks.
This is all exciting news, because based on the movies we’ve seen so far, these sequels are going to be awesome. But what are they going to be about? How do you go from The Avengers, which has already broken the $1 billion mark in only a matter of weeks, back to individual solo movies? Which characters are going to appear? What’s the story going to be like? What kinds of hints and Easter Eggs will they include pointing towards The Avengers 2?
So to continue the celebration that has been The Avengers movie, here is my list of the 6 things I want to see in the upcoming sequels.
The 6 Coolest Moms in Comic Books
I love my mom. She’s sweet, kind, caring and I know she’d do anything for me. She’s got questionable tastes in reality TV, but she’s easy to make laugh, so my family has a jolly good time with the jokes when we’re all back home for the holidays. My mom is pretty darn cool. And though it doesn’t come up very often, I’m fairly certain that she approves of my love of comic books. So she’d also hopefully approve of today’s list of the 6 Coolest Moms in Comic Books!
Sometimes they’re good guys, sometimes they’re bad guys, but either way you’ve got to be super tough to be a mom.
My 6 Favorite Moments From The Avengers
So I absolutely loved The Avengers! And I’m confident that anyone reading this blog loved it too. This is a glorious time to be a comic book geek. But let us never under-appreciate the miracle it was to get such a perfect superhero movie. Just think about the time and effort that went into this film: five other big budget Hollywood movies, all of which had to be successful and popular; half a dozen big name actors who were probably far more concerned about their jobs and their craft than in fulfilling our dreams; the cost of those actors’ salaries; finding a director who had a vision that matched our own, and much more.
Had The Avengers been made 10 years ago, it would have been licensed to some other studio like FOX, who would have probably hoped for the best with some crummy one-off movie. Need I remind you what someone thought a Justice League movie should be like in 1997?
Here’s part of the movie on Youtube, if you dare! But could you imagine getting an Avengers movie like that? Shudder to think. Fortunately for us all, Hollywood has recognized that the entire world loves superheroes as much as the rest of us! A $207 million opening weekend? More than $700 million around the world in two weeks? Those numbers are staggering! For an Avengers movie! But those numbers aren’t surprising when you remember how awesome that movie is!
And to geek out just a bit longer about The Avengers, here is a list of my 6 favorite moments from the film! And I hope you’ll share your favorite moments in the comments! Though be warned, we’re talking ***FULL SPOILERS*** for the movie.
6 Avengers That I Absolutely Want to See in Future Movies
Anyone who has read my blog over the past few weeks has seen an abundance of Avengers coverage. Because I am absolutely off the wall with excitement for this movie. I’ve got my ticket for midnight Thursday, and I may even see it at least once more this weekend. I have been waiting for a movie like this my entire life, and I have been waiting for The Avengers for 4 years. The anticipation is mind-numbing!
To celebrate the release week, I knew I wanted to do an Avengers-themed list. But since I haven’t seen the movie yet, I’ve decided to focus my list on future sequels. From the early reviews and the few spoilers I’ve read, I know that The Avengers is not filled with tons of character cameos and Easter Eggs to comics fans. Though you should definitely stay and see the after-credits teaser. So I thought a good idea for a list would be ‘6 Things I Want to See in the Sequel’, but then I realized that the list would just be different comic book characters that I want to show up…so I’m just going to write that list!
Or you can check out an earlier list I wrote about 6 Avengers Who Won’t Be in The Movie. Either way, click the jump for 6 Avengers that I want to see in future sequels.
6 Reasons Why I Love Comic Books
We all have our vices, mine is the funny books. I’m a total comic book geek – which I hope didn’t come as a shock to any of you. Some people like sports, some like NASCAR, some like music, but not me. I love reading superhero comics. It’s my passion. And not only do I love reading them, but my dream job is to someday write superhero comics. I wear comic book T-shirts, I collect comic book action figures, I write a blog about comics and every week I take a trip to my local comic book shop to pick up a big stack of new books to read.
You could say I’m cuckoo for comic books!
But why do I love comic books? Of all the millions of things I could love, especially all the ones that are more socially acceptable, why do I continue to be a huge geek who reads comic books? Why spend the money? What do I get out of them? Hopefully today I can answer those burning questions! Here are 6 reasons why I love reading comic books!
