The 6 Greatest Jesus Appearances in Comics
Merry Christmas, henchmen and henchwomen! Are you enjoying the big day? I know I am. So let’s celebrate with style! Two years ago, I put together a list of Santa Claus’ best comic book appearances. I think it’s only fair to give proper due to the other half of the Christmas occasion: so let’s take a look at the best comic book appearances of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ!
Surprisingly, J-Christ doesn’t get around as much as I thought he would. He isn’t even an honorary member of the Justice League, fer cryin’ out loud! But don’t feel too bad for the Son. Whether he’s a 12-year-old boy, a black man, a gun-toting maniac or a zombie-killing badass, comics love Jesus.
So join me after the jump, on this day of his Holy birth, to celebrate Christmas with the six greatest Jesus guest-appearances in comics! All religious denominations are welcome.
My 6 Favorite Things of 2013
Welp, 2013 is over, and I don’t think I accomplished any of my stated goals for the year. I’m still fat, I’m still broke and I still haven’t been discovered by the comic book industry and handed the reigns of Spider-Man. But why dwell on the negatives when 2013 was arguably a pretty great year all around? At least when it comes to geeky stuff!
I don’t normally do these sorts of lists because I have a terrible memory and I don’t know what I was enjoying last week, let alone last March. But I wanted to see if I could pull this off, because there were a lot of great things this year, and I’m a member of the Internet, so of course I’ve got to do one of these lists. They’ll withdraw my membership card if I don’t, right?
Join me after the jump for my six favorite things in pop culture from 2013. And please feel free to share your own favorite things in the comments below!
6 Potential Spider-Man Movie Spin-Offs
Spider-Man has one of the best casts in comics, including everyone from the skinflint publisher J. Jonah Jameson to diabolical masterminds like Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin and Aunt May (keep an eye on that one). Which is probably why executives at Sony Pictures said recently that they want to make a ton of spin-off movies starring other characters. And who can blame them?
Of course, me being the plucky young geek that I am, I have a few ideas that could help them out. If there’s one thing I know in this world, it’s Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends. So why don’t you fun folks join me after the jump to hear some of my ideas. And I would love to hear some of yours in the comments!
The 6 Most Underrated X-Men
The Internet loves to make fun of the X-Men. Whether ranking the worst members of the team or the most pointless, the X-Men seem to be easy pickings for discerning Internet nerds. Well I’m a different kind of Internet nerd, and I’m here to offer my support for some of those very same X-Men! Because if there’s one thing you need to understand about comic books, it’s that there are no bad characters, only bad writers.
By their very nature, the X-Men are going to feature some less-than-stellar characters. Most superhero teams like the Avengers or the Justice League only take the best of the best superheroes. But the X-Men are built on being a minority, featuring characters who were born with their powers. And those powers can be either a gift or a curse. Sometimes you get the power to shoot lasers out of your eyes or control the weather. And sometimes your sweat is acidic or your bones grow out through your skin.
Join me after the jump for the 6 most underestimated X-Men!
The 6 Coolest Native American Superheroes
We here at Henchman-4-Hire are firm believers that every holiday should stick to its designated time period. All those doors in The Nightmare Before Christmas exist for a reason! Christmas needs to wait its turn, because there’s a very important and valid holiday in November: Thanksgiving!
Even if we all can pretty much agree that the historical First Thanksgiving was probably nothing like what we were led to believe growing up. Pilgrims and Indians coming together in peace and harmony to feast on a big, plump turkey on November 28? It’s probably more fictional than Bigfoot. But let’s not worry about that now, let’s take a look at the 6 coolest Native American superheroes – and thankfully, not all of them are wearing super-powered feathered headdresses.
