6 Thoughts on The Batman (Review)
It’s Batman’s world, we’re just living in it. After several years of delays, The Batman has finally arrived in theaters and delivered a Batman movie we can all love and embrace. It may be 3 hours long, but it’s a heck of a ride and I had a blast with this big, fun Batman adventure.
Movie Rating: 9/10 – Great
I love Batman as much as the next person, and The Batman was probably my most anticipated movie of this year. I liked what I saw with each of the trailers, I liked how this world was forming, and it lived up to all my hype and expectations. The actors, the characters, the designs, the choices, the score; everything worked for me with this film and I can’t wait for all the sequels and spin-offs we’re going to be getting.

The Batman came out this past weekend, so DC whipped up a new Batman-focused trailer for the upcoming cartoon DC League of Super-Pets. I don’t have high hopes for this movie.
I dunno, I’m just not digging the tone of this movie. It seems to both want to be legit while also breaking the fourth wall and mocking itself. And I’m still not convinced about The Rock as Krypto. I think it’s more stunt casting than actual, quality voice work.
But perhaps I’m being too judgmental. We’ll all find out for real when DC League of Super-Pets comes to theaters on May 20.

Tim Drake is Coming Back as Robin in Chip Zdarsky’s Batman!
This is going to be another one of those niche blog articles where I’m really just writing my thoughts on a very specific comic book thing that I am interested in. Like, a lot of people reported on the cool news that creator Chip Zdarsky will be taking over the main Batman comic for an extended run. I saw the news and was pretty pumped, because for strange reasons, I’ve never actually read an ongoing Zdarsky comic. He’s supposed to be really good!
I was already planning on reading and reviewing Zdarsky’s Batman when it starts up in a few months…but something caught my eye just the other night that has raised my excitement through the roof.
When I first saw this picture, from a distance when cruising through headlines, I just thought that yellow on Batman’s chest was a stylized symbol. But when I got a second, closer look, I confirmed that it’s actually Robin! I love Robin!
So I went to ComicBook.com, which interviewed Zdarsky about his new run, and I learned some truly amazing news: Zdarsky plans to bring Tim Drake back as Robin full-time in order to recapture that Dynamic Duo action in his upcoming Batman run.

I don’t know if I can properly describe how excited I am by this news. This is everything I want from Batman comics; something I’ve wanted for more than a decade at this point, I think.
As we all know, Damian Wayne has been Robin for a very long time now. But Damian isn’t really a sidekick. He’s got a ton of his own things going on, including his own solo comic. Which is fine, but not something that I, personally, care about. I like the classic Dynamic Duo set up, where Robin is Batman’s sidekick and works with him on crimes and investigations, with Batman is a mentor role.
And we haven’t gotten this dynamic in a very long time. So I am very, very excited that Zdarsky is going to use Tim Drake, the best Robin, in the role that I love best.
Unfortunately, we have to wait all the way until July to see what happens. And the possibility remains that they’ll call him “Red Robin”, but let’s hope not.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/5/22
Good news and bad news, everybody! The good news is I’ll be going to see The Batman today and I’m expecting to have a good time! The bad news there might not be reviews next week, as I will be out of state attending my sister’s wedding! That’s good news for her! But we’ll see if I have any time before I leave to read and review some comics.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Static: Season One #6 for an awesome, heroic finale to this first storyline. Not sure why this comic needs seasons, but this season finale was cool as heck.
Meanwhile, I beat Pokemon Legends: Arceus and now I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to splurge on Horizon Forbidden West yet, at least not until after I get back from my sister’s wedding next weekend. So maybe I’ll take up reading for the next week? We’ll see.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #91, Batman #121, One-Star Squadron #4, She-Hulk #2, Static: Season One #6 and X-Men #9.
