My 6 Most Anticipated Pop Cultures of 2024

Happy New Year, everybody! Happy 2024! This year is going to be a good year for me. I’m losing weight. I’ve got some self-published comic book stuff coming up. My New Year’s Resolution is to finally master this banana bread recipe I’ve been dying to make, but kept putting off. And we’ve got…an acceptable amount of cool movies, TV shows and games coming up. Let’s talk about them.

Fun galore

Looking ahead, there isn’t much to be excited about in pop culture, to be honest. Not like last year, when we had a ton of great video games on the horizon, and a lot of movie potential. This year doesn’t have a whole lot. But I took a look around and have made a list anyway! There are some things I’m excited about and looking forward to, with my hopes up. So why not share?

Join me after the jump for six bits of pop culture I’m looking forward to in the new year. And feel free to share your own hopes and dreams for the year ahead in the comments below!

6. Another Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer

I don’t need the dude protagonist

I’m a Grand Theft Auto devotee and I cannot wait for GTA 6…all the way in 2025. So that game will be on this list one year from now. Then I looked over the list of upcoming video games in 2024 and not many got me excited. But what will get me excited? Seeing another trailer for GTA 6! A story trailer, a gameplay trailer; anything really. That teaser trailer was a lot of fun and I cannot wait to see more of this game. I cannot wait to play the game, but in terms of what we’re going to get in 2024, I cannot wait to see more of the game. That’ll have to do.

5. Star Wars: Outlaws

Every Star Wars protagonist needs a tiny sidekick

My most anticipated video game of 2024 is probably Star Wars: Outlaws. Insomniac isn’t going to have any of their Marvel games or spin-offs coming out next year. And the Suicide Squad game could be are real stinker. But I can definitely get behind an open world Star Wars game, and one that focuses on dialogue, role playing and scoundrels. So consider my hopes up for Outlaws. It’s not going to have the lightsaber-building side quests of the Star Wars Jedi games, so that’s a knock against it. But I love me a good sandbox game, so I’m going to get my hopes up.

4. Fallout TV show

The look is perfect

I also took a look at upcoming TV shows and there are a few I’m interested in. The Fallout TV show on Amazon Prime looks good…but I wasn’t too impressed with that first trailer. They could totally mess this up. But I still have high hopes. It should be a nicely told story. And they got all the aesthetics exactly. So maybe they’ll do a good job and I can be pleased. I wouldn’t mind a new Fallout game though…

3. Avatar: The Last Airbender live action show

The colors might be the best part

This could be good and I’m excited to see what actually happens with this live action Last Airbender show. I loved the cartoon, obviously. It’s been so long since I saw the movie that I don’t remember anything about it. So this show could be anything! It could be good. It could be short. How many episodes are we getting? It could be bad. All I know is that the pictures we’ve seen so far (did we get a trailer?) look amazing and my hopes are raised. Here’s hoping for the best!

2. Deadpool 3

Have I mentioned that I think the Wolverine sleeves are a missed opportunity

Despite all the recent setbacks, I remain a Marvel movie supporter. It’s a little weird that there’s only going to be one (legitimate) Marvel movie released next year, but I can understand that. The studio needs to take a step back, reassess and make better products, not more products. So releasing only the surefire hit Deadpool 3 should be a safe bet. This movie should go a long way to making people happy again, with some off-the-wall, multiverse stuff.

1. X-Men ’97

I love the new look of Morph!

The original X-Men animated cartoon from the 1990s was my jam! I loved that show, and it’s probably my favorite of the various X-Men cartoons we’ve had throughout the years. So to return to that universe for new episodes is pretty cool. It’s a wild idea, to be sure. And I think I know why Marvel is doing this instead of starting a brand new cartoon. I’m on board and it should be fun! I like what they appear to be doing with Morph. And I look forward to seeing how they incorporate the past 20+ years of X-Men continuity into that universe. Plus, it’s going to give Marvel an excuse to finally license a lot of X-Men LEGO that I can’t wait to buy! Believe me, if the rumored X-Mansion LEGO set was more than a rumor at this point, it would be on this list of anticipated things. But for now, I’ll settle for being very excited about this cartoon!
