My 6 Most Anticipated Movies of 2018

I love movies. I love all storytelling, really, but I especially enjoy going out to the movies. It’s a fun event, whether alone or with friends. Last year, my New Year’s Resolution was to go see more movies in the theater. I pulled off that plan with flying colors, and the universe rewarded me with that $10 a month MoviePass deal! Anybody else taking advantage of that? It may all come crashing down sooner rather than later, but for now, I’m just gonna keep heading to the theater over and over again!

Movies 2018 List 01

2018 promises to be a pretty cool year for movies. There are a lot on my list that I still need to see from 2017, but I want to look ahead with rose-colored glasses at the fun year I”m going to have at the cinema! It’s going to be so much fun, I had to double-up on some of my answers here!

Join me after the jump for the movies I am most looking forward to in the year ahead! And please feel free to share some of your own in the comments!

6. Black Panther/Ant-Man and the Wasp

Not to give away the rest of this article, but if you’ve read my blog before, you know I’m a pretty big Marvel movie fan. This year promises to be an exciting one in that regard, but I’m pretty much equally as excited for both Black Panther and Ant-Man and the Wasp, just as I’m generally equally excited for all upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. I do recognize that Black Panther will be far more culturally significant than Ant-Man and the Wasp, and I’m really excited for that, but Ant-Man is probably my favorite Avenger, so I’m really excited for his new movie. So really, I’m just excited for more Marvel movie greatness!

5. Pacific Rim: Uprising

It’s exciting to know that we live in a world where Pacific Rim gets a sequel. I’m still going to hold out hope for those Warcraft and Power Rangers sequels, but I’ll settle for Pacific Rim: Uprising. I don’t really know what the movie is going to be about, but I know it stars John Boyega, and that’s probably good enough. Giant robots fighting giant monsters should be a much bigger film genre.

4. Deadpool 2

The first one was great and I’m pretty sure we can expect just as much excellence from the sequel. Pretty much all there is to say about Deadpool 2.

3. Incredibles 2/Wreck-It Ralph 2

How cool is it that we’re going to get sequels for both of my favorite recent animated movies in the same year? Incredibles is my favorite Pixar film, and Wreck-It Ralph is my favorite of Disney’s recent movies. And the Gods of Sequels have seen fit to deliver both in the upcoming year. That should be pretty spectacular! I don’t know which will be better, or if either of them will be any good. I’m just going to get my hopes up a whole lot.

2. Isle of Dogs

Oh man, this looks so good! The trailer itself was a work of art! I love Wes Anderson movies, he might be my favorite director. Not only is he returning to stop motion, but he’s gathered his usual amazing cast of actors to run away with it. The story is weirdly awesome, the humor looks great and I just can’t wait!

1. Avengers: Infinity War

Yep, I’m that predictable. I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’ve loved all of their movies — including Age of Ultron — and I expect more greatness with Avengers 3. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’m going to love it. The entire first half of 2018 will just be one long wait until Avengers: Infinity War. I ain’t even ashamed. This is how I choose to live my life.

What movies are you looking forward to in 2018? Any indie darlings I have so far missed? Let me know in the comments!

Hello, this is Sean, the Henchman-4-Hire! By day I am a mild-mannered newspaper reporter in Central New York, and by the rest of the day I'm a pretty big geek when it comes to video games, comic books, movies, cartoons and more.
