6 Best Cosplayers at Boston Comic-Con 2014

Hey everybody! You may have noticed that I haven’t been posting anything new to Henchman-4-Hire over the past few days. That’s because I was on vacation visiting friends and family in the Boston area! I had a blast, but didn’t have regular access to a computer, so I missed out on some quality blog posts. I didn’t miss any geeky news over the weekend, did I? DC hasn’t announced their upcoming movie slate, right? My good friend Alyssa helped out with a cartoon, but for the most part, your favorite blog and mine has been quiet. So I appreciate you guys and gals visiting even while I was gone!

Don’t worry, I’m back now, and still on vacation, so expect more updates over the next few days to make up for what I missed! And to start things off, how about a taste of Comic-Con?

I went to Boston Comic-Con this year with my friend Kristi McDowell, who had her own booth at the con, selling her self-published comic A Planet’s Cry. I couldn’t be more proud of Kristi, and I know she sold a lot of books. I’m hoping to join her next year with my own comic…but more on that later, kiddos. For now, we all know one of the best parts of Comic-Con is seeing all of the costumes! I love cosplayers. I’ve done it a few times myself, though I haven’t shared very much here, because I’m a hideous monster who looks bad in photographs. So enough about me, let’s get on to the good cosplayers!

Join me after the jump for the six best costumes I saw at Boston Comic-Con this year!

6. Lady Deadpool

There were so many Deadpools at the Comic-Con. I get that everybody loves Deadpool, and everybody thinks they’re going to be the funniest, wittiest Deadpool in costume, but man, it’s become an epidemic. There were almost as many Deadpools as there were Jokers, Harleys and Poison Ivys. I think this lady was the only Lady Deadpool though, with a real quality costume.

5. New Batgirl

I was hoping to see the new Batgirl costume! This one was very well made, and looked like real leather. I actually chased this girl down to get the costume (not in a weird way). Unfortunately for us both, this creepy older guy in that fabric Batman costume came along and insisted he get to pose too. Lame.

4. Falcon

This Falcon just looked damn awesome! It looks a little chintzy, maybe, but it looked amazing in person. The wings were probably the best part, and very smartly done.

3. Bee and Puppycat

I love Bee and Puppycat! If you haven’t seen the cartoon, do it now! It’s worth your time! I happened upon this girl almost by accident. I didn’t really pay her any mind, but then I heard someone else mention her costume, and I recognized her! She was super adorable.

2. The Dragonborn and Friends!

These were some very impressive costumes, and such a wildly cool choice. The Dragonborn from Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is one thing, and the woman in the center has a great costume to go along with it. But then making four identical and equally detailed guard costumes is just taking everything to a whole different level! A lot of work and skill went into this group costume.

But they’ve got nothing on…

1. The Firefly Family

My god, you guys. This family was the most adorable cosplay I have ever seen. Each of those kids was only maybe 1 or 2-feet-tall, in perfectly crafted costumes! Clearly their dad was dragging them around, but still, they all looked amazing! They would steal your heart. I know they did mine. I hope those kids don’t grow up to hate cosplaying!

The Runner-Ups!

Let’s give it up for some of the other great costumes I saw!

Nightcrawler

Princess Bubblegum and Lumpy Space Princess

Beast Boy

The Question

Hawkeye and Hawkeye

Sinestro and Green Lantern

Gamora
