Trailers This Week are Coming Hard and Fast, Two Things that Describe Superman
We’ve already had new movie trailers this week for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Star Trek Into Darkness, so how about a new Man of Steel trailer! Looks pretty neat!
I love prestigious trailers like this. I love the mood music, I love the ambiance. I love the depth and breadth they’re giving Superman. I’m definitely loving everything we’ve seen for Man of Steel so far, and I’m very excited for this movie. The snippets of action we saw looked pretty cool, though I’m not convinced this Zod is going to make a great villain. He seems kind of generically evil. Plus, on a personal level, I’ve just never cared all that much when Superman has to deal with some evil leftover from Krypton. I’m far more interested in everything Superman himself.
My 6 Favorite Game of Thrones Characters…So Far
How cool is it that Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are two of the most popular shows on TV? Here are two genres – fantasy and zombie – that would have been relegated to just us geeks and nerds only a few years ago. But instead they’re cultural phenomenons! This is an exciting time to be a geek, that’s for damn sure. Of the two, Game of Thrones is definitely the better show. Thanks in no small part to the power of HBO, Game of Thrones is an epic, world-spanning story of power, intrigue, war, sex and dragons.
I am not a full Game of Thrones geek like some of my friends. I’m up to date on the TV show – and am currently watching the third season like the rest of the world – but I’ve only read the first two books. I’ve decided to go show-first, book-second. They make great companion pieces. The books provide further detail and depth to the show’s characters and world, while the show turns the characters into flesh and blood people, giving you a better visual understanding and experience that you can take back to the reading. I’m all for letting our imaginations run wild, but sometimes it really does enhance the experience to know what people and places look like when reading a book.
I wanted to do something Game of Thronesy for my List of Six this week, so I’ve decided to run down my top 6 favorite characters in the series, often forged from a combination of show and book. I put ‘so far’ in the title, because Game of Thrones is, first of all, a long way from being over, and second, notorious for killing popular characters. I’m more than a little nervous that some of my favorites won’t live to see a happy ending. But such is the risk you take when you fall in love with such an amazing series!
I’m going to do my best to avoid any major SPOILERS, but even still, you should be warned. Join me after the jump!
College Humor’s Batman Videos Are Still Hella Funny
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen one of College Humor’s Badman parody videos, but apparently they’re still putting them out, and they’re still hilarious. Here is Badman getting ready to sacrifice himself to take the bomb out of Gotham.
And the latest one – which isn’t up on Youtube yet – has Badman meeting the Penguin, playing by Patton Oswalt. Because hells yeah!
New Star Trek Trailer is the Best One Yet!
There’s a new Star Trek Into Darkness trailer and it’s pretty darn spiffy.
I don’t know what else there is to do now but just eagerly wait for the movie’s release. I don’t know when it is off the top of my head, and I’m momentarily too lazy to Google it at this exact moment. So, um…sometime this summer? I dunno. Maybe it says at the end of the trailer. That should be good enough for our needs.
New Hunger Games Sequel Trailer!
I liked The Hunger Games movie last year, and I’m legitimately excited for the sequel in November.
I’ve never read the books, but the first movie was pretty darn cool. And I especially loved the sense of civil unrest, and the idea that this is all probably leading towards Katniss as a symbolic figure in a revolution. If you know, don’t spoil it for me. But I imagine the series going in that direction, and that sounds freakin’ awesome. So this is a pretty great trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
