Full X-Factor Cast Announced – And I Don’t Care for Any of Them

When Marvel and Peter David announced the new X-Factor series last month, they revealed three members right off the bat: Quicksilver, Polaris and Gambit. The remaining three members were kept a mystery, because that’s how comic books work sometimes. Well now it seems the new Previews catalog has revealed the full lineup, and scans have hit the web courtesy of the CBR forums.

This isn’t it, this is what we’ve already seen

I’ll post the scan after the jump in case you don’t want to be spoiled. Suffice to say, I don’t particularly care for anyone on the new team. It really does seem like PAD threw darts at a wall to pick this cast. Kind of like how Uncanny X-Force ended up with Psylocke, Storm, Spiral and Puck.

Click the jump to see the full roster!

And here it is!

In all its glory

The three additional team members are Cyper, his alien pal Warlock, and Danger, the sentient Danger Room robot.

What can I say, it’s a weird team. But then PAD has worked his magic with weird team lineups in the past. Maybe this one will become just as lovable as Madrox, Strong Guy and the gang of the old X-Factor. So I’ll probably pick up a few issues of the new X-Factor to see where it goes, but right now I’m not really digging the lineup. What do the rest of you peeps think?

  1. I don’t know…something about PAD writing Cypher and Warlock seems like it could be dynamite. Cypher may become the great new everyman hero and fill in for Madrox pretty nicely.

Also, calling it now: Gambit and Polaris hook up.

  2. It’s funny. None of the first three really did much for me. I’ve never been a Gambit fan. Polaris and Quicksilver were always good under PAD, but never my favourites.

But now we’ve got three characters that are awesome. I love Cypher, I love Warlock, I love Danger. Warlock is loads of fun, and the kind of character that artists can have a lot of fun with. Danger’s got a nice sarcastic sense of humour. And Cypher . . . well, Doug’s a lovable guy. He’s got such a weird power, which he’s only recently (since his return from the dead) learned to use in creative ways. It does make him a damned god with computers.

Plus, I’m always glad to see any of the New Mutants get some love. If he adds Karma, I might just jizz myself.

So, yeah. I’m more excited about this book than I was.

    • I don’t think I ever ever read a single comic that features Cypher. Now’s my chance!

      • Yeah. He was in the New Mutants for a while in the ’80s, then he died. He was only brought back with the mediocre Necrosha X-over, and then he became a part of New Mutants Vol. 3. A version of him was sorta in Excalibur in the ’90s; it seemed like a combination of him and Warlock, but it turned out to just be Warlock. Aaaand . . . that’s about it. He had a story in the X-Men: Serve and Protect anthology, where he used his power to hear the language of the city of San Francisco in order to find some suicide bombers. He also convinced one bomb to not explode. He’s also used his powers to make himself a master fighter. Ever since he came back, he has been a straight-up badass. Not bad for the guy who always used to worry that he wasn’t pulling his own weight.

He’s also a really nice guy. Just, like, super-nice. He and Kitty used to have a bit of a thing for each other, though nothing came of it. He also had a thing with Wolfsbane. Psylocke, in her pre-ninja days, also had a thing for him. Yeah. That was . . . weird. Really, really weird. Actually, he could probably be the world’s greatest ladies man if he wanted to, but he actually seems to be too nice to do that. Because he really is, like, the nicest guy you could ever meet.

        He’s a great character.

And Warlock, of course, is just awesome. You’ve gotta love Warlock.

      • Ah, now I remember, I did read some Excalibur issues with Douglock back in the day. I’d heard about some of the things Cypher got up to in the recent New Mutants volume. It sounded like a really awesome new take on the character. So perhaps I will see what PAD can do with him.

  3. I like the concept of the idea behind the book and where PDA takes it. Non of this are my top favorite characters. But this is PDA writing them so I am excited to see where this goes… But however the news I am looking forward to is, “What do they have plan for Madrox?”
