All of My Hopes and Dreams for Injustice: Gods Among Us Are Wiped Out With One Depressing Clip

Regular readers of my blog will know that I’ve been eagerly tracking the character roster for the upcoming DC superhero video game Injustice: Gods Among Us, hoping that my favorite superhero, Robin, would be a playable fighter. I mean, c’mon, am I really the only one who sees the excitement in being able to pit Batman against Robin? It’s the classic story of teacher vs. student, of mentor vs. apprentice! Well the final two characters have been leaked to the Internet, and they are…drum roll please…wait…they’re who? God dammit! Cancel the drum roll!

It’s Killer Frost and Ares. What the freakin’ Hell!?

Grant me the serenity...

Grant me the serenity…

Really, Injustice: Gods Among Us? Really? Killer Frost and freakin’ Ares? That’s the best you could come up with? Of all the hundreds of exciting characters in the DC Universe, you give us Killer Frost and Ares? When have they ever been relevant? Killer Frost didn’t even make my list of the Top 6 Snow and Ice-Themed Comic Book Characters, and nobody cares about Ares! Wonder Woman fans probably don’t even care about Ares.

“Oh boy, I can’t wait to buy Injustice: Gods Among Us, so I can play as my favorite DC comic book character: Ares!” SAID NO ONE EVER!

But oh, we’re not done, boys and girls. Not by a long shot. Finalizing the roster with Killer Frost and Ares would be bad enough, but Injustice: Gods Among Us had to go and twist the proverbial knife! Right into my soft, beating heart! Some of you have suggested that I should just be happy that we get to play as Nightwing. He’s kind of like Robin.

But there’s something you need to know about Nightwing…

Yes, hang your head in shame!

Yes, hang your head in shame!

Nightwing is not Dick Grayson!

This clip has leaked to the Internet. Watch it and let your hopes die alongside my o

Son of a bitch! Nightwing is evil Damian Wayne? Seriously? Damian was supposed to be Robin! Don’t we all remember the prequel comic book? Don’t we all remember when my hopes were raised higher than they’ve ever been before? When I still dreamed a dream?

But my dreams are dead now.

  1. Dude, that really blows. Who the hell wants to play as a Nightwing that isn’t Dick Grayson? I was also bummed by Ares and Killer Frost because I wanted the ice person to be Captain Cold and your right about nobody giving a crap about Ares. They should’ve gone with Cheetah if they wanted another villain/Wonder Woman character. It’s pretty damn lame. But I’m still very excite for Injustice

    • My X-Box is still dead, so I don’t yet even know if I’ll be able to play this game on release. I’d like to do a review. My theory is that the developers needed another big character to add to Doomsday and Solomon Grundy.

I’m hoping that the transition from Dick Grayson’s Nightwing to Damian Wayne will take place in the game’s story mode. Maybe the blue Nightwing is Dick, then somewhere during the story mode, we see Damian Robin kill Dick and take his identity, changing the costume to red. But that’s just idle speculation at this point.

Terrible move on Neatherealm’s part. Damian as Robin should have been an obvious slot. Killer Frost seriously? Is an ice character a must now? Ares i guess i can see why but he’s hardly a popular choice when there are so many characters available for the picking. Furthermore the whole Damian kills Nightwing thing is so out of left field. The character has been fleshed out so much you’d think they’d respect the source material of late especially given his popularity. With that said i do think that perhaps we have yet to really see what’s going on. The comic is building up well but the plot to this game just screams “rehash of old Justice Lords episode” from Justice League Unlimited.

    • I at least liked when Batman called Dick Grayson his ‘son’ in that clip. I always enjoy moments like those.

As for Killer Frost, I’m sure they were just looking for some new babe character they could sexify.
