Disconcerting News For X-Factor

Solicitation previews for June have hit the Internet, and it looks like the next big X-Factor story arc after the Hell on Earth War is going to be called The End of X-Factor! Not only that, but Madrox still looks like he’s possessed by a demon!

Still rockin’ the duster, though

Both of those things are sad to hear!

Granted, it could just be a title. Word has it that Peter David is recovering well and still writing, and there’s been no suggestion that The End of X-Factor is anything more than just a title. I don’t think the book is getting cancelled. Still, it’s a sad title. As is the fact that Madrox is still a demon by then? Is he going to spend the entire Hell on Earth War as the demon slave of Mephisto? That sucks. I read X-Factor mostly for the awesome Madrox action!

I’ll let you guys and gals know if I learn more.

On the other hand Dark Avengers is ending out of nowhere and was unexpected.

    • Are you a fan? I’m pretty sure everybody could see that was coming to an end when they replaced the popular Thunderbolts team with a bunch of nobodies like Ragnarok and that weird South American Spider-Man…I mean, c’mon, Rangarok!?

I am a fan. Parker did a great job when the title was Thunderbolts (though the new team and writer are displeasing) and when the title changed to Dark Avengers he did take hand me down characters and he has done an acceptable job with them and did the best to make the title stand out but it has it’s cancelation date. And I think X-Factor will be ending, regretfully. I think that hell on earth will break the team and their home is destroyed. I love X-Factor and would hate to see it end but I feel non-marvel now comics are ending.

    • It’s regrettably possible. I should just be happy that a comic book with Multiple Man as the lead character lasted as long as it did. But nobody has said anything about ‘The End of X-Factor’ being the literal end of X-Factor.

Besides the next arc being “The End of X-Factor” nobody has said it’s ending. So it could just be an arc name, it could be getting ready for a renumbering like most titles and a new creative team and then there is the fact that it is coming to a close.

      • Exactly. If this really were the final arc of the series, especially with Peter David’s health problems, somebody at Marvel would have said X-Factor was really ending for good.
