6 Things I’m Doing on My Vacation

When I went home to see my extended family for Labor Day, and informed them that I planned to stay home for my week-long vacation, they were flabbergasted! How could I even think of not going on some luxurious trip? I have a whole 10 days off! Surely I could go on some kind of awesome adventure!

Nope! I’m broke and my car is a unsteady these days, with the ‘check engine’ light popping on every time I drive out of the city. So it’s a staycation for me!

I don’t gotta get away

Being a chubby comic book nerd who doesn’t like sports, bars or sports bars, I’ve spent my entire life enjoying myself at home. I think we’ve already established that I love video games, TV and movies. But I’ve also put off a lot of other projects because I knew this week was coming up.

So if you’re eager for a look inside the life of your favorite blogger, join me after the jump!

6. Celebrating My Birthday

———————-

He’s got the right idea!

It’s my birthday tomorrow! The big 2-9! The last year before I’m finally 30. I’m not worried though. Maybe when I actually turn 30 I’ll be freaking out about it, but I’m kind of  calm about turning 29. No big deal. We all get old. As for my plans? Nothing special. I’m not big on parties or get-togethers. I saw everybody over the weekend for Labor Day, so I’m good. Instead, my girlfriend and I are going to watch The Avengers and I’m thinking of treating myself to a good meal. It’s just going to be another day. Oh, also, who doesn’t love counting all the Happy Birthday wishes on Facebook? That’s always a hoot!

5. Cleaning

———————-

First I should probably get some cleaning supplies

What can I say? I’m a 29-year-old bachelor living alone in my apartment; it’s probably the typical bachelor pad. Pizza boxes, clutter, cobwebs; this place needs a thorough cleaning. Good thing my parents got me a vacuum for Christmas. Not to say this place is a pig sty. I keep my pizza boxes neatly stacked, and my clutter is just stuff, not actual dirt and grime. I’m not living in filth here. But the place could definitely use a tidying up. It could also use a woman’s touch, ladies.

4. Buying a New Chair

———————-

That’s gonna feel real good on my butt

My birthday present to myself this year is a new home office chair. I’m really going to splurge and buy something an executive would sit in. Big, leathery, and most importantly, full of cushions! I deserve it! I want it! The seat on my current chair is flat, and it actually hurts after sitting here for awhile. And considering how much time I spend on the computer, the last thing I want is a painful butt. My computer chair my primary piece of furniture. When I bought this chair, I looked for the cheapest one I could find…but why? Of all the crap I spend money on, why not spend it on something I’m using all the time? So when I go buy my new chair today, I’m getting something amazing!

3. Setting Up My New Elliptical Machine

———————-

Hot babe not included

Going to the gym never worked for me. I couldn’t keep my mind on staying at the gym. Whether on a treadmill or in the weight room, I just kept thinking how great it would be to leave and go home – then sure enough, I’d act on those desires. I’ve got no willpower. But I can’t give up on my quest to lose weight. So my latest idea is to cut out the gym entirely. I bought an elliptical machine off Craigslist and I managed to get it up to my apartment. I also got a TV and a DVD player, and a desk to put them on. So now I just need to set it up so that I can watch DVDs while I use the machine. That way my mind won’t wander as much while I work out!

2. Getting Back Into World of Warcraft

———————-

I don’t remember those baby turtles being there…

I haven’t played World of Warcraft in at least two years. But it’s one of my all-time favorite video games ever. I love the role-playing, I love the lore and mythos, I love the game play; I love World of Warcraft. And I can’t wait to finally, at long last, create a Pandaren character when the new expansion comes out later this month. I’ve been waiting for that since WoW was first announced!  But rather than wait another month, I decided to use this week to jump  back into the land of Azeroth and see what’s changed – a lot, apparently. Between Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, it’s a very different game world. But it’s just as fun as I remember. I’m catching up with some old characters and started a new one, a goblin rogue named Sespi, who is named after the character in my WoW fan fiction. If anyone plays Horde on the Thorium Brotherhood server, let me know! Hopefully I won’t grow bored of the game again by the time Mists of Pandaria comes out.

1. Not Working

———————-

Living the dream

As I said before, I am not someone who needs to fill his vacation time with trips and adventures. Because in the end, all you’re doing is more stuff. You’re not able to appreciate the fact that you’re off from work because now you’re ‘working’ at something else. On my day’s off, and on my vacation, I like to be able to just sit at home in the middle of the day. I like taking a trip to the store or dining at a nice restaurant for lunch and knowing that I have zero responsibilities or deadlines. I can just cruise through the day without a care in the world. That’s what I love most about vacations. And that’s what I’ll be doing.

Though now that I think about it, my vacation is already half over! Where the hell did the time go?

  1. You forgot Diablo III. You can play with Panda Bears later. This will be the first time we’ve fought Diablo together since we borrowed a broken copy of the original game for the Play Station. And that only managed to work maybe twice.

Also good call on the new chair. I need a new one too….and new every other piece of furniture. But my company got me a really nice desk chair. It is easily the most comfortable and sturdy offic chair I’ve ever sat in. I’ll try to find out the make and model and let you know.

    • I just bought my new chair and it was $80 off since I first picked it out last week. So that’s amazing. And yes, we shall definitely Diablo. When do you usually get home from work and play?

  2. All three of us! I’ll be sure to get up at an unreasonable hour tomorrow or this weekend to play with you two.
