I Still Think Darth Maul is Cool
There’s a new Darth Maul cartoon coming out in three weeks — Darth Maul: Shadow Lord. It’s set during the Empire, with Darth Maul fighting back because he’s angry. Maybe he’s a crime lord? I dunno. It’s Darth Maul fighting Stormtroopers to some extent. Long before he shows up in Rebels. Maybe before he shows up in Solo? Who can tell.
I think it looks cool and fun. Am I on the edge of my seat? Nah. That’s just not me anymore for anything (except maybe GTA 6). But I’ll gladly watch a new Darth Maul cartoon. I still think he’s cool. I’m still on board for new Star Wars content. And I’m definitely on board with Darth Maul taking a Jedi sidekick to cut down Stormtroopers and fight the Empire. Could be fun.
Darth Maul: Shadow Lord will have 10 episodes on Disney+, starting on April 6.

There’s Gonna Be a New Darth Maul Cartoon
Star Wars is gonna Star Wars. And there’s gonna be more cartoons! Specifically, there’s going to be Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord. I think it’s gonna take place…I have no idea. but Darth Maul is gonna be a dude operating from the shadows doing crime and fighting Stormtroopers. Sounds good to me!
And it looks good to me, too. Looks like Darth Maul doing cool, shadowy things, possibly against the Empire. Does it impact things that we already know his future and how he dies? Nah. I’ll just enjoy watching Darth Maul do cool stuff.
Hopefully they’ve drawn some inspiration from Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, a 2001 novel I devoured as a young lad after The Phantom Menace came out. It’s a prequel about Darth maul doing evil, cool things from the shadows, and features some awesome side characters. And this cartoon features some potentially awesome side characters!
Might one of these supporting character Jedi be named Darsha Assant? Man, I hope so.
Anyway, Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord will come to Disney+ on April 6.
