Review: Kick-Ass 2
This movie really kicks ass! No, seriously, I’m not trying to be cute. I don’t see how you could think — oh wait, yeah, I see it now. Funny. No, no, I get it. Because the movie is called Kick-Ass 2. Yeah, I totally get it. But seriously though, Kick-Ass 2 rocks! I had high hopes going into this film because the trailers have been amazing and I loved the first Kick-Ass. But this has been a summer of disappointment (*cough, Man of Steel, cough*) so maybe I was a little worried. But no need to fear. Kick-Ass 2 is just as exciting, badass, raunchy and emotionally fulfilling as the first film. Clearly there’s a lot of swearing, violence and bodily fluids, but Kick-Ass 2 is that kind of movie, and that makes for a very fun film.
Kick-Ass 2 easily lives up to the excitement of the first film, building a bigger world of superheroes and pushing the heroes’ journeys to all the right levels of awesomeness. But you probably shouldn’t try any of this at home.
Movie Rating: 9/10 – Great!
Kick-Ass 2 succeeds in taking the first film and expanding on everything. There world of superheroes gets bigger, with more regular folks putting on masks and costumes. Evil gets bigger, with the first real life super-villains. Even Kick-Ass himself gets bigger when he actually focuses on working out and learning how to fight. And the stakes are bigger than ever. People die. People we care about get hurt. People question why the hell they’re even doing this in the first place. The film does include several huge action scenes, ones that go beyond the simplicity ordinary people dressing up like superheroes, but that can be forgiven. This is still a movie, after all, not a documentary.
If you liked the first Kick-Ass, then I think you’ll love it’s sequel. Original director Matthew Vaughn is gone, replaced by Jeff Wadlow, but you won’t be able to tell the difference. These are the same characters inhabiting the same world. This is the next chapter in the lives of Dave Lizewski, Mindy Macready and the rest of these lovable goofballs. And lovable is indeed correct. Donald Faison from Scrubs plays Dr. Gravity, and he is amazing! As is Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars-and-Stripes. Really, all the new characters are a lot of fun, even the bad guys.

Kick-Ass 2 in All It’s Brutal, Cussing Glory
Red band trailers were made for movies like Kick-Ass 2. Watch and enjoy.
I’ve probably said this with every new Kick-Ass 2 trailer, but I loved the first movie, and I can’t wait for this sequel in mid-August. The trailers look amazing, the new characters just look plain cool, and the film looks like it’ll have real heart. I know, right? Kick-Ass 2 has heart? Of course it does. All good superheroes have heart. This one also has swearing.
Newish Kick-Ass 2 Trailer
There’s a little bit in the way of new footage, and that’s good enough for me. Though hopefully the entire movie won’t have those foreign language subtitles. That would be weird, amiright? I’m still very much excited for Kick-Ass 2. The superheroics look cool, and there’s definitely more to be seen in the epic final battle between Kick-Ass and the Mother(swear word)er. I enjoyed Kick-Ass’s heroic journey in the first film, and I know the source material put him off as more of a loser than the films, but seeing him succeed and be a hero is much more rewarding to me. But then I’m just a big ole softie.
The Second Kick-Ass 2 Trailer is Pretty Good Too
I loved the first Kick-Ass 2 Trailer, and this one is pretty good too. It focuses on Hit-Girl.
I’m definitely excited about this movie. What about you guys? Looking forward to Kick-Ass 2? I think it has the potential to be a sleeper hit, maybe even the best superhero movie of the summer. Kick-Ass 2 is only a sequel, while Iron Man 3 is the threequel. And we all know how well the third movie usually goes for superheroes.
Kick-Ass 2 Looks Amazing!
In a summer of Iron Man 3, Man of Steel and The Wolverine, let’s not forget Kick-Ass 2 in the slate of upcoming comic book movies. This first trailer looks amazing! Though slight warning, there is some naughty language.
I loved the first Kick-Ass movie. I never read the comic, but the movie was a blast, with likable characters, a lot of action and a very cool story. From the trailer above, all of that looks to continue, with some cool new additions to the cast. I love Jim Carrey’s style in that trailer. The voice and attitude sound and look amazing. And the continuing story of Kick-Ass himself looks to be pretty darn cool. Any doubt I had for this film has been washed away.
