Some Cool Robin Comics Are Coming!
November is apparently going to be a big month for Robin comics! And if you know me and comics, you’ll know that I love Robin! So you best believe I’ll be checking out these two mini-series when they arrive
First up is Robins, written by Tim Seeley, with art by Baldemar Rivas. This comics won the Round Robin contest that DC held recently where they announced a dozen crazy new comic ideas and had fans vote for their favorite. Turns out fans really want more Robin!
Robins is going to be about all of the former Robins getting together to talk through their histories. And a mysterious woman claiming to be the first Robin?! L’gasp! This one sounds like a solid exploration of what it means to be a Robin. I love that kind of thing! Hopefully it doesn’t differ too much from my own thoughts on what it means to be a Robin, because I can be a fickle fan.
Next up is Robin & Batman, written by Jeff Lemire, with art by Dustin Nguyen. This one just seems to have popped up out of nowhere, with Lemire and Nguyen a solid creative team.
Robin & Batman is going to be an exploration of Dick Grayson’s early days as the Boy Wonder. There already exists a Robin: Year One comic, but I have no problem adding more continuity! Dick Grayson as Robin is a fun time period and definitely open to exploration from modern creative teams.
I especially love how young Robin gets to have proper pants and boots on that cover. The original Robin costume may be classic, but that does not make it good or worth using in a project like this.
Both of these comics sound awesome and both of them will be bought, read and reviewed by me! Doesn’t that sound exciting? I sure hope so.

Check Out These Awesome Bat-Family Costumes!
We live in a golden age of live action superhero costumes! Gone are the days of moody black leather. Now superheroes on both the big and small screens get to dress in comics-accurate attire! And it looks great!
Yesterday saw the first official images of the new Batwoman and Red Hood costumes from the second season of the Batwoman TV show and the third season of the Titans TV show respectively.
Here is Javicia Leslie in costume as Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman.
The Ryan Wilder character recently made her first appearance in the comics. Maybe she’ll become the new Batwoman in comics as well? Time will tell! I think she looks great!
Next up is actor Curran Walters as the Red Hood!
Walters played Jason Todd as Robin in the first two seasons of Titans. I haven’t seen the second season yet, so I don’t know what happened to him. But apparently it was enough for him to go full Red Hood for season 3! I need to start watching that show again. And I never did watch Batwoman to begin with.
To think I live in a day and age where there are so many superhero TV shows that I actively don’t watch some of them! I should be so lucky!

I Love Me Some Robins!
Longtime Henchies know that I’m a big fan of Robin. He’s one of my all-time favorite superheroes. And now animated fun guy Noah Sterling has used his nifty YouTube channel to run through the history of all the Robins. Fun times!
Yeah, the history of the Robins is weird. But fundamentally, Robin is awesome. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Also, since this video was made, I think DC is retconning their retcon and Stephnie Brown did serve as Robin. It’s confusing, but important to note.
Double also, while I’m on the subject, I’m starting to wonder if my disinterest in DC Comics as a whole these days has anything to do with the lack of a fundamental Robin. The team of Batman and Robin hasn’t been a thing for a while now. Damian Wayne is, technically, the current Robin, but he hasn’t been his father’s sidekick for years. He’s off running the Teen Titans and hanging out with Superman’s son. Tim Drake has been retconned back to being Robin, but he’s also been his own man for a while, and now he’s running Young Justice. Duke Thomas became Batman’s new partner, but DC went and gave him super-powers and made him The Signal instead, and now he’s a member of the Outsiders.
So DC simply does not have a Batman and Robin team, which is really disappointing. As much as I love Robin, I mostly love him in the context of being Batman’s partner. So I dunno, I think I’m just griping. Fun video, at least.

The Definitive Robin Costume Ranking
Happy Thanksgiving, comic book lovers! To help make your Turkey Day a bit more palatable, and because most of the Internet is probably shut down today, I’ve decided to have a lot of fun by ranking all of the comic book Robin costumes! I am a huge Robin fan, and his costume is a pretty notorious hallmark of the character.
Fortunately, Robin has been through quite a few changes and retcons over the years, producing a whole wardrobe of different outfits, styles and designs. Robin has had almost as many costume changes as Batman! And from hundreds of different highly skilled artists. So I looked up as many as I could find and decided to rank them from my least to most favorite.
This list is as ‘definitive’ as I felt I could get featuring in-canon comic book costumes from throughout DC’s nearly 100-year history. If I’ve forgotten any, let me know in the comments and I’ll find a place for it. But I’ve left out the Elseworlds costumes, the movie, cartoon and video game costumes, and most of the one-off alternate reality costumes. Maybe I’ll throw all of those into a second list somewhere down the line.
For now, join me after the jump for the Definitive Robin Costume Rankings!
