Catch the LobStar!
Today is the launch day for the LobStar Kickstarter project and it’s your chance to get on board right away! As longtime readers of my blog might now, I’m a wannabe comic book writer myself. Gamer Girl & Vixen is coming along nicely, and I’ll have the first issue of my solo series — Cover Bard — ready to go sometime next year probably. I’m making these comics with some pals of mine through the Very Big Comics publishing imprint.
And now my pals are producing the first issue of LobStar, a story about a New England superhero fighting local corruption. LobStar #1 launches today on Kickstarter!
The comic is written by Jamieson Alcorn, with artwork by Sierra Barnes.
Matthew Murphy is a simple Downeast Maine lobsterman who commits a selfless act only to find himself chosen as the champion of the Lord of Lobsters. But his new powers were granted for a specific reason, and Matt has no choice but to accept a quest to leave his old life behind and learn about his new mission.
While he’s away, Matt’s hometown becomes the center of a lot of unwanted attention after news of his supernatural encounter gets out, and his rival Dave O’Connor is in the perfect position to capitalize on his absence.
You can also read a preview of the comic at GlobalComix.
So yeah, if you’re a fan of indie comics and want to support me and my pals in making comics, go back the LobStar Kickstarter today!

Check Out Yearbook Club!
Good morning, everybody! I come to you with some fun comic book news today. My friend and comics writing partner, Kristi McDowell, launches her new web comic today! It’s The Yearbook Club, and you can read it today on GlobalComix!
The Yearbook Club is an all-ages comic that follows the adventures of four tweens as they’re whisked to the past through their middle school library’s yearbook collection. Hollis Burncoat, Erin Bailey, William Durand and Snoozy Simmons solve mysteries and see familiar figures in their lives in a whole new light with each and every issue.
The Yearbook Club #1 takes the middle schoolers to 1996, where they arrive just in time to see their parents’ friendship fall apart! New student Erin learns about her friends as they try to find out who really sabotaged Sterling Burncoat, Jennifer Durand and Monica Miller’s science fair project and save their parents nearly 30 years of animosity.
Artwork by Jesse Lundberg!
The Yearbook Club comes from Very Big Comics, which is also producing Gamer Girl & Vixen these days, and Cover Bard, my own original comic! My friends and I are making our own comics and it’s super fun! Check it out!
