Batman: Arkham Origins is Only Days Away

In preparation for the Friday release of Batman: Arkham Origins, here is the official launch trailer! Sure does look neat!

I’ve got my copy pre-ordered at Gamestop, and I’m on vacation all next week, so I’ll have plenty of time to play! Here’s hoping Arkham Origins lives up to the previous games. And here’s hoping we actually get the origin of Arkham Asylum, otherwise the name makes no sense! Amiright, folks?

Batman: Arkham Origins Looks Even Better Than Before

There’s a new trailer out for Batman: Arkham Origins, and somehow it looks even better than anything we’ve seen so far. How are they doing that!?

Look at those awesome character designs! Listen to that beautiful dialogue! Though I still don’t think this game is going to have anything to do with the origin of either Batman or Arkham Asylum…unless Batman defeats all of those assassins and at the end of the game, somebody turns to him and says, “Oh hey, we just built this new asylum outside of town, we could take them all there.”

The game comes out at the end of October, and I’m seriously considering taking a week off from work just to play it. Don’t look at me like that. I’m allowed two weeks of vacation a year. So what if I spend one of those weeks playing Batman: Arkham Origins? You’d do the same!

Robin and Multiplayer in Batman: Arkham Origins!

I’m still not sure I understand how this is going to work, but IGN revealed today that Batman: Arkham Origins is not only going to have a multiplayer segment, but that multiplayer is going to have Robin! I’m over the moon here! Watch this video and try and understand what’s happening.

So OK, read that article on IGN and try to figure it out with me. It seems that there will two teams of 3 player-controlled henchmen, one team for Joker and one team for Bane. The two teams fight each other for control of territory and spawn points in a map. Sounds typical. The cool part, it seems, is that there will also be two other players in the map playing Batman and Robin. And it will be up to Batman and Robin to sneak around and subdue henchmen on both teams, kind of like flies in the ointment.

That sounds really cool.

Unfortunately, it seems that Robin won’t be a part of the actual main game, which is sad. But still, there is some Robin! And based on that video, it doesn’t look like the same Robin from Batman: Arkham City. So it looks like we’ll have a Dick Grayson version of Robin teaming up with Batman in multiplayer mode. I hope you all won’t hold it against me too much if I keep picking Robin when we play multiplayer matches together.

Even Newer Batman: Arkham Origins Trailer!

The video game conference E3 is in full swing, and the first bit of news I’ve snagged is a new trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins. It purports to show a little gameplay, but it’s so stylized there’s not much to see. Mostly it’s just cool new footage and story beats.

Plus the Joker. Joker is definitely in the game.

I like the trailer, but it just feels like there’s something off about the whole thing. I don’t know what, though. Possibly the fact that Rocksteady isn’t the one making the game. That leaves a sour taste in my mouth. But perhaps I’m just being pessimistic. All indications are that this will be another awesome chapter in this franchise…only without Robin.

Full Batman: Arkham Origins Trailer

Remember last week when I posted the first teaser trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins, and it was pretty much just a short, well-animated fight between Batman and Deathstroke? Well now the first full trailer is out, and it’s basically just a long, well-animated fight between Batman and Deathstroke.

Not that I’m complaining. It’s very well animated. And it features Deadshot and Black Mask, so yay for that. But honestly, it doesn’t show any of the actual game. And nothing in that trailer says ‘Origins’ to me. That could simply be the trailer for a game set at any point in Batman’s career. When did they go back in time to his early days for this story? Was that the only way they could think to bring the Joker back? Are they that desperate to use the Joker again?

Oh well, again, I’m far from complaining. This should be an awesome game. Also, apparently there will be a pre-order bonus that lets you play as Deathstroke. I’m definitely going to get that.
