Friday Franchise Movie Trailers!
It’s Friday of an incredibly weird and busy week for me. This July has been crazy. Thankfully, I’ve got a pair of simple, easy to digest movie trailers I can share with you all. Trailers for movie franchises that we all know and love and understand. Personally, I don’t know if I’ll see either of these movies…but some people might!
First up is the new trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which shows off a lot of the body horror this movie will bring to the table.
This is a much better trailer than the first one. This gives us a real selling point in just how weird and horrific this movie is going to be. Tim Burton is apparently going all out on the gruesomeness, which is a plus. I’m still not sold on this movie even existing, but perhaps it will be a fun lark in the theater.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice comes out on Sept. 6, which is my birthday and I have off from work…but I still don’t know if I’ll go see it.
Next up is Alien: Romulus, and at least in this trailer we learn why it has that name.
This trailer looks simultaneously all manner of scary, while also looking all manner of predictable. The Alien franchise has a series of notable moments, and this trailer just repeats them. Facehuggers, Chestbursters, the full-sized alien, female protagonist…yep, all there, just made to look all the scarier with modern moviemaking technology. S’fine, if that’s what you’re into.
Alien: Romulus comes to theaters on Aug. 16.
And with both of these movie trailers shared, I can make this joke. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice implies the upcoming existence of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice; while Alien: Romulus implies the existence of Alien: Remus. I find both silly.

There’s Gonna Be a New Alien Movie, Obviously
Like sands in an hourglass, so goes Hollywood. We’re gonna have another Alien movie, because obviously. That’s what happens. Will it be as new and unique as Prey was to the Predator franchise? Probably not. But it will be named Alien: Romulus for some reason.
I hope this means the sequel will be called Alien: Remus.
I’m not big fan of the Alien franchise. I’m just not a fan of horror films in general. But this seems to be a big deal, and maybe people haven’t seen this trailer yet, so I’m sharing. I like to share movie trailers. And later today, there’s gonna be the full trailer for the upcoming Ninja Turtles cartoon based on Mutant Mayhem. I’m rather excited about that trailer!
But for now, know that Alien: Romulus will come to theaters Aug. 16.

Movie Trailer Monday
It’s Monday, I have the day off from work and am just snowed in enough that I don’t feel like going out to clean off my car. I was going to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire this past weekend, but I didn’t because my car is covered in snow. How’s that for the universe’s sense of humor? Anyway, it’s time to share a couple of movie trailers that came out last week!
First up, Alien: Romulus. I’m not a big Aliens guy, so I’m not super hyped for this franchise or this trailer. But it came out, people are excited, so here we go!
It’s just a teaser trailer, so not too much revealed. But I’d say this trailer does a great job setting the tone, setting what the movie is gonna be like. Lots of running, lots of CGI monsters. The Face Huggers run now. Did they always do that? Or is this a running zombies upgrade? Anyway, looks fine. Not sure what the “Romulus” subtitle is about, but it exists.
Alien: Romulus is coming to theaters on Aug. 16.
Next up is a fun new trailer for The Fall Guy!
This movie looks like a hoot! Funny, charming, full of action and weird story beats. I think this one could be really wild and popular this spring/summer. Maybe this year’s Bullet Train, only it has more success at the box office than Bullet Train.
The Fall Guy comes to theaters on May 3.
Lastly, a fuller trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
I want to like this movie. I’m going to see this movie in theaters opening weekend. But I stand by my claim that Furiosa did not need an origin story movie. I don’t know how this is supposed to compete with or compare to Fury Road. That movie was a masterpiece. Why not make a sequel? We already know that Furiosa isn’t going to achieve any of her goals in this new prequel. But we’ll see.
At least Chris Hemsworth looks like he’s having a ball as the villain!
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga comes to theaters on May 24.
