Review: Teen Titans #22
Just…just put Teen Titans out of its misery already. Rebirth is well under way at DC Comics, with some great and note-worthy new titles. But for some reason, Rebirth won’t grace the Teen Titans for several months yet. For some reason, this comic is being forced to limp along and churn out meandering and uninteresting stories like this one. It makes no sense.
Comic Rating: 4/10 – Pretty Bad.
I don’t think we’re ever going to find a more perfect example of a comic book spinning its wheels. Teen Titans is running on fumes, and it makes absolutely no sense to me. Tony Bedard is a fine writer, and I love Ian Churchill as an artist, but they’ve got nothing to work with anymore. Is DC trying to let their adjectiveless Titans comic get a head start before relaunching Teen Titans? Nothing else makes sense.
Teen Titans as a brand is, arguably, one of DC’s most well-known properties. The Teen Titans have had a popular cartoon show ongoing for nearly a decade, with an entire generation of fans out there in the world. But Teen Titans the comic has been the biggest, ugliest blemish on the comics side. This was repeatedly named the worst comic of the New 52, but DC kept it going for the entire length of that imprint.
Now with Rebirth upon us with the promise of a completely clean slate, DC is only easing on the brakes and drawing out this title almost painfully. Bedard and Churchill do their workmanlike best, but what’s even the point anymore?
6 Things I Want to See in the New Ghostbusters Franchise
I was a fan of the new Ghostbusters remake. A friend of mine was such a big fan that she’s seen it three times already! I don’t know the final numbers, but I would say it’s a relatively solid success and not the utter flop that the haters hoped for. I hope this means we’re looking at a new, revived Ghostbusters franchise.
So what comes next? A sequel, hopefully. Perhaps even a trilogy. The action figures are selling well, and I might pick up one or two myself. I’ve definitely got my eye on that new LEGO Ecto-1. And one hopes that Halloween will be huge this year for little girl Ghostbusters! Elsa and Frozen had their day!
I am totally on board with making this a big, awesome adventure. And there are a few things I’d like to see from the franchise going forward.
How X-Men: Apocalypse Should Have Ended
I never got around to reviewing X-Men: Apocalypse. I enjoyed the film on a purely nostalgic level, seeing the X-Men characters be kind of awesome. But the movie itself wasn’t all that great. Still, it’s good for comedy!
This one might have the best alternate ending ever! Though hopefully Deadpool doesn’t insert himself in every video the HISHE people do from now on. Though this one was apparently written by fan submission!

Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!
The casting announcement we’ve all been waiting for was finally announced at Comic-Con Saturday night: Captain Marvel will be played by actor Brie Larson! Her movie won’t come out until 20-freakin’-19, but it’s still pretty cool to finally have the role cast. Hopefully we’ll see her cameo in an upcoming flick, like the first Infinity War movie.
Unfortunately, I don’t know very much about Brie Larson. I’ve never seen Room, so I only really know her from her small role in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which was a fine role, but probably doesn’t show off her acting chops very much. Still, I love Captain Marvel, so here’s to finally knowing this solid casting.
Here’s hoping 2019 will get here soon rather than later…though I’ll be freakin’ 35-years-old by then. Jeez louise…

Doctor Strange Trailer is All Freaky Deaky Like
This has been one great Comic-Con for movie trailers! And not to be outdone by DC, Marvel released a new, epic trailer for Doctor Strange!
That is definitely some freaky deaky movie magic. I don’t know what I was expecting from Doctor Strange, but it wasn’t that, and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Weird city manipulations? Whazzat? I guess we’ll find out in November! I still have full faith in Marvel to pull off just about anything!
