More Legend of Korra Goodness!
I promised to bring as much Legend of Korra preview stuff as I could find to this blog, because I and everybody else are really waiting for the new Last Airbender series to begin! Well you’re in luck, as a new trailer was released just yesterday! It’s kind of a made-for-TV commercial, with some pretty silly narration. But mostly this trailer is filled with actual dialogue and scenes from the show. So that’s pretty neat.
Plus the animal mash-ups continue with Korra’s polar bear dog!
Inspector Spacetime is Happening
We might not have Community back on the air just yet, but we’re going to get the next best thing: Inspector Spacetime! There’s going to be a web-series about the Inspector produced by the actor who plays him, Travis Richey. At least this is all according to IO9, with the news coming out of the Gallifrey One convention.
For anyone who doesn’t watch Community, Inspector Spacetime is a parody of Doctor Who, and has been a running gag throughout the third season. It’s all about the time-traveling Inspector, his companion Constable Reginald and their battles against the villainous Blorgons! Community characters Abed and Troy have fallen in love with the show, and are often seen wearing Inspector and Reginald costumes.
See for yourself:
This is brilliant. The Inspector Spacetime segments of Community are just hilarious, and to think that the guy playing the Inspector is just going to go ahead and make his own webseries about it is exactly the sort of creativity I love.
Of course, Richey is apparently doing it without the OK of the execs at Community or NBC.
Dan Harmon, Community, NBC and Sony have nothing to do with this web series. I pitched it to them after my first episode of Community, but never heard back from them one way or another. So I’m going to do it myself, with the help of fans. I’m launching a Kickstarter campaign in a matter of hours for an equipment budget, and the complete story can be read there.
So take that for what you will. Maybe they’ll shut him down. Maybe things will be cool and this web-series will get made. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and be on the lookout for Blorgons!
The Art of Community
With the TV show Community still off the air, the people of the Internet have risen up to fight for its return. Beyond simple complaining, this has taken the form of drawing the Community characters as if they were characters from some other property. I’m pretty sure that somebody did the first one, and now it’s simply snowballed. Either way, it’s fun! So I thought I’d share for the sheer kicks and giggles of it.
The latest one I’ve found online is Street Fighter!
I should mention that if you don’t already know who the Community characters are – let alone the characters they are drawn as – I can’t help you. This post is for fans and geeks, and the rest of you are just out of luck. Besides, if you aren’t watching Community in the first place then you’re part of the problem!
Here we have Community as the X-Men:
These are two of the earliest ones, Community as Batman heroes and villains!
So enjoy these images, fellow Community fans! I sense some potential desktop wallpapers here!
Simpsons Vocal Cover
If the creators of the Simpsons like getting crazy with their opening credits, they could do worse than turning an episode over to this guy, Nick McKaig. This is apparently his shtick when it comes to Youtube, but this Simpsons video he posted a few weeks ago is just delightful. It’s no ‘Do the Bartman’, but take a listen!
Save Community
So the TV show Community is currently on hiatus, and this sucks. It’s one of the few shows I watch these days. But star Donald Glover has made an appeal to viewers and whoever to band together to save the show. It’s up to us, people! Write your Congressman! Could we have another Internet blackout to convince NBC to bring the show back?
