Review: Teen Titans #2
Both dialogue and overall quality of the new Teen Titans series take a noticeable dip in the second issue, providing a lackluster follow-up to what I thought was a stellar first issue. We’re introduced to a rather ridiculous new member of the team and are once again faced with a baffling status quo about the ‘dangers’ of teenage superheroes. Part of the new DC relaunch was that the average person doesn’t trust superheroes anymore, which is fine, but there’s a stark disconnect between every other title I’ve read and the status quo of Teen Titans.

At least Red Robin is still very cool.
Comic rating: 2/5: Bad.
Issue #2 introduces us to brand new superhero Skitter, who I am going to call Skittles from now on. At least until I get to the paragraph where I discuss what a stupid name ‘Skitter’ is for anybody. Teen Titans is still very much in team-building mode, with the B-story devoted to establishing the villain: the secret organization N.O.W.H.E.R.E. I can’t stress enough what a ridiculous job writer Jeff Lobdell does in trying to give N.O.W.H.E.R.E. some villainous cred. This issue features roll-your-eyes bad dialogue, particularly when it comes to that group.
The issue also features roll-your-eyes bad dialogue between the main characters. Basically the issue is just troublesome to read. Which is really too bad. Spoilers after the jump.
Less Than a Week Until Nightwing Joins Arkham City
Batman: Arkham City only came out a week ago and already developer Rocksteady is ready to hit us with some downloadable content. They will be bringing Nightwing into the game as a fully playable character in the Challenge Maps, just like they already have Robin and Catwoman. Nightwing will also bring his own Challenge Maps called ‘Wayne Manor’ and ‘Main Hall’, so that should be neat.
Batman games can never have enough Robin, as far as I’m concerned.
Robin Gameplay Footage
The first actual gameplay footage of Robin from Batman: Arkham City was released today. It’s really choppy, but it’s still cool. His Detective Mode looks like it might be a little different, as will be his fighting style. I don’t think I like that he’s always wearing his hood. I like the visual of Robin with his hair free. But I won’t nitpick the including of a playable Robin!

Or it’s me, dressed in a Robin costume from the upcoming game Batman: Arkham City. I’m geeking out about this. My avatar currently rules.

Why should you care? Ostensibly you shouldn’t. This is just a personal geek choice. X-Box Live avatars are these little animated versions of yourself for when you log onto your X-Box 360. Perhaps people are more familiar with the Miis that came out with the Nintendo Wii? Well X-Box jumped right onto that bandwagon and made their own avatars, only these look more like people. You can outfit them with clothing and gear from your favorite video games or fashion lines.
And finally, after long last, we got some really good superhero stuff. I also bought a Robin T-shirt for my avatar for those times when I don’t feel like dressing up in full costume. It’s just really silly and really geeky, but I wanted to share because I think it’s hilarious. They also have costumes for Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn and Catwoman, as well as just icon T-shirts. My girlfriend and X-Box buddy Alyssa is currently sporting a Catwoman costume.
I may end up buying the whole dang Batman catalog for my avatar when all is said and done.

Nightwing Images Surface
I announced yesterday that Nightwing has been all but confirmed as a playable character in the upcoming video game Batman: Arkham City. Well no sooner did that happen then possible images of Nightwing appeared on the Internet today! They’re pretty sparse, and it’s just shoulders up, but it looks pretty badass. Nicely detailed and with an updated style. Check out more images here.
