So a Little Movie Called The Avengers Came Out on DVD Today
And guess who bought it! Remember back when buying DVDs was a regular thing? The Avengers is possibly only the second DVD I’ve bought all year, and the first one was an oldie just needed to complete an old collection. We, as a people, just don’t buy DVDs anymore – and yet it’s still OK to buy them as cheap Christmas presents. What’s up with that?
Anyway, in honor of The Avengers, check out this rather hilarious Honest Trailers takedown of the film. Funny stuff.
The Web Series That Isn’t Inspector Spacetime!
Crikey, Inspector! The first episode is up!
If you haven’t been following along, this is the “Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time.” It’s a Doctor Who parody – but a little more complicated than that.
The original parody – called Inspector Spacetime – comes from the TV show Community on NBC. Great show, funny parody. Then the actor who played Inspector Spacetime on Community decided to turn the character into a webseries – except for the fact that he did not own the character of Inspector Spacetime or have permission from Community or NBC to turn their character into a webseries.
The lawyers got involved and put a stop to actor Travis Richey’s plan. But Richey didn’t want to give up on his webseries idea, so he simply changed the name to that much longer name up there. But he’s kept the ‘Inspector’ part, as well as several other ideas/concepts from the Community parody.
So he may not be able to call his webseries ‘Inspector Spacetime’, but Richey’s just gonna go ahead and make it anyway. More power to him, I say! The world needs such a fun Doctor Who parody.
A Tale of Boy Meets Ghoul
If I had these kinds of animation skills…I bet I’d be a pretty cool guy. Enjoy the story of a Scout from Team Fortress 2 running afoul of a Witch from Left4Dead in this classic tale of boy meets ghoul. That pun is quite good.
It seems the maker of the above video, Nailbiter, is looking for a job. I think he’s off to a good start.
Legend of Dorra
I don’t watch enough of the MAD! cartoon show on Cartoon Network. It seems they’ve got some pretty quality geeks in the writers’ room!
That’s a mish-mash of Legend of Korra and Dora the Explorer for anyone who doesn’t get the references. Also Dora? Korra? How did no one think of this any sooner?
