The Ultimate Avengers Trailer
I know I posted the real The Avengers trailer only a week or so ago, but then some fans at ScreenRant made this amazing extended trailer. They use footage from all the individual movies to build a larger story, then use all the footage that’s been released so far for The Avengers. This is a movie trailer on steroids, people. And it is gleeful.
Thanks to Topless Robot for the find.
Review: X-Factor #232
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! The end of ‘They Keep Killing Madrox’ is here and it’s left me a very happy comic book geek! I won’t spoil the surprise until I actually get to the review, but suffice to say all my fears from the past few months have been put to rest. Writer Peter David did not shoot me in the face with sadness. Instead he has brought joy and happiness back into the world!
Sing with me, fans of Multiple Man, at the glory of this issue!
Comic rating: 4/5: Good!
That is to say, it’s not a great issue. Heck, it’s probably not even a good issue. But the ending bumped it up a notch. Like last issue, with Caplok vs. Iron Man, we basically spend the entire issue hanging out with Jamie Madrox on some strange, foreign dimension. He meets a new group of strange, altered characters, with the issue based almost exclusively around those characters. Once again, Madrox is just along for the ride in his own starring story. That sucks! David is writing such a great Madrox, but he doesn’t have anything for the character to do. We also don’t get anymore answers to…anything really. No better idea what Madrox is dealing with, nor any hints about the ‘truth’ of his powers.
Still, good enough read, with a fantastic ending! I’m one happy comic book fan. Spoilers and synopsis after the jump!
Lego X-Men May Be Even Cooler Than Lego Avengers
I give you Lego Deadpool.
I was kind of excited about the Avengers Legos that I posted the other day. But further search of the Lego sets at this year’s Toy Fair convention in New York City have revealed the first (of hopefully many) X-Men Lego sets! And we’re talking comic book X-Men sets. None of that movie crap.
The set features Wolverine, Deadpool and Magneto in some kind of helicopter-based battle. Why a helicopter? Who knows!? Who cares!? It’s X-Men Legos!
And here’s a close-up of the mini-figs.
The X-Men are a brilliant license for Legos. They have been doing some amazing things with mini-figs recently. The bodies are heads are incredibly detailed, with mind-blowing accessories. So imagine if Lego could cut loose with the entire cast of X-Men characters? Cyclops, Emma Frost, Toad, Iceman, Archangel, Beast, Storm, Jubilee, there are just so many!
Say it with me now…Lego Multiple Man!
That’s a custom mini-fig made by Tin7.
Top 6 Current Superhero Relationships
Romance is dead in comic books. And I’m not just talking about the lack of actual ‘romance’ comics, like they had in the mid-20th century. I mean the classic, long-standing, popular romances that used to define comics are long gone! Through reboots, retcons, death or simple break-ups, the classic couples are no more — especially the ones that were highlighted in the most recent comic book movies.
But don’t worry, all hope is not lost! Newer couples, with a few remaining classics, are proving that even superheroes can still fall in love.
The DC Comics New 52 reboot basically took a scythe to romance in comics. On the chopping block: Superman and Lois Lane, the Flash and Iris Allen, Nightwing and Batgirl, Nightwing and Starfire, the Joker and Harley Quinn, Green Arrow and Black Canary, Apollo and Midnighter, and many more. Longtime Marvel couples are also kaput. Spider-Man and Mary Jane, Jean Grey and Cyclops, Jean Grey and Wolveirne, Hulk and Betty Ross, Thor and Jane Foster, Rogue and Gambit, Shadowcat and Colossus; the list goes on. Heck, some of the comic book movie relationships, like Iron Man and Pepper Potts, don’t even really exist in the comics. Batman’s ‘true love’, Rachel Dawes, only exists in the Chris Nolan movies.
Fortunately, romance always makes for good drama, so there are still some superheroes shacking up and knocking boots. In honor of Valentine’s Day, here are the Top 6 Current Superhero Relationships in comics.
Who Thought Nude Lizard Was a Good Idea?
Why the hell is the Lizard going to be naked in The Amazing Spider-Man movie? He looks ridiculous!
The studios haven’t released any official images yet, unless you count the brand new trailer that came out a few days ago with some brief glimpses of the Lizard. So based on the trailer, that picture I just posted above and the various toy images that have come out, it seems pretty clear that the Lizard in the new movie is going to be wearing his birthday suit. He’s just gonna be one big hunk of naked lizard-man.
Am I the only one who thinks that looks incredibly stupid?
I’m not going to get into the dumb face he has. Just the general idea that he’s going to be some awkward naked lizard-man. For reference, here is what the Lizard typically looks like in the comics:
The Lizard is really scientist Curt Connors, whose wild experiments turn him into the Lizard. So he’s almost always wearing a tattered white lab coat and clothing. It’s a good look! It adds character to the whole lizard-man identity. It adds color, because ‘white’ is a color when splashed against the dark green of the Lizard’s scaly skin. In the comics, it’s quite clear that he’s a man transformed into a monster because he’s still wearing human clothing. His look tells a story.
In the new movie, he’s just an ugly, naked lizard-man! Was it really so horrible to slap a white lab coat on the Lizard? Did it look weird to test audiences, or something? Did they even give it a chance? This isn’t an argument about staying true to the comic so much as it’s an argument against how stupid he looks naked.
And for Halloween, you can even dress like him.
That costume looks even more ridiculous. Jeez. A pox upon all bastards who wear that costume for Halloween this year!
This is just like Green Goblin as a Power Rangers villain.
