Static Shock Fan Film is On Its Way

Those creative types out there in Internet land are once again making one of my favorite sorts of Youtube videos: superhero fan films! This time, Stefan Dezil and company have made one called Static Shock: Blackout, which is due in March. The teaser trailer was released earlier this month. Static Shock is a black, teenager superhero created by the late great Dwayne McDuffie. He had a popular cartoon show on The WB several years ago, and is one of the most prominent black characters in comics.

It’s also one of the first titles canceled in the New 52 reboot by DC Comics. Oops.

Well these fans will show you why Static Shock can be cool. The electricity effects are actually pretty damn badass.

Greatness Strikes Twice

Does everybody remember that amazing Portal 2 song set to the Nightmare Before Christmas? Of course you do! It was brilliant! Well video-maker Harry UK is at it again with another Portal 2/Nightmare mash-up song. This one isn’t as brilliant, and the Wheatley impression is far from perfect (how could it be?), but damn this is one creative and gifted dude. Listen and enjoy an amazing bit of geekery.

Multiple Man By Way of DeviantArt

If you’re not familiar with DeviantArt, it’s a website where artists can post their work for the entire Internet to see. It’s great! Fun to just browse and take a look at various projects and masterpieces. It’s also a fantastic place to see superhero fan art, which is my primary use for DeviantArt. Everyday fans like you and me can draw superheroes to their hearts’ content and post them online for other fans to enjoy. It’s one of the things to love about the Internet.

So just for kicks and giggles, I decided to see what kind of fan art is out there for my favorite comic book character: Multiple Man.

Let’s take a look at some of the best ones.

First up is ‘Multiple Man’ by Mr. Representational.

'Multiple Man' by Mr. Representational

I really like this one. It’s got style, it’s got class, and it’s got a nod to Madrox’s current gig as a private detective. Plus it showcases his powers in a fun and original way. Definitely a great pic.

More after the jump.

Real Life Goldeneye 64

I proudly champion the genius and brilliance of people on the Internet every chance I get. Whether it’s a silly but awesome drawing of the Avengers or a particularly funny Portal parody. The Internet never fails to have something new up its sleeve. Today I bring you a video by Alasky. They created a real-life version of Goldeneye 64, the James Bond game that revolutionized first-person shooters and multiplayer alike. So enjoy!

The Space Stallions Will Save Us

I’m not sure sure what this video is – other than incredibly awesome. It may be the single greatest parody video of all time, mocking the cartoons of the 80s with brilliance and wit. Space Stallions is so perfectly made that it could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Silverhawks or Voltron of He-Man! But I don’t think it’s just a parody video, since it has a website – one that doesn’t seem to loud all the way. The Youtube page says it’s a bachelor film project. If so, I hope they got an A.

But whatever it is, come, watch and enjoy. If only this had really been a part of our childhood. Save us Mother Mustang!
