Hey, This is Crazy, But Bruce is Batman, Maybe

DON’T WATCH THIS VIDEO IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN The Dark Knight Rises. But if you have seen The Dark Knight Rises, then by all means watch this fun, musical parody of that ‘Call Me Maybe’ song that everybody seems to like. I find it catchy myself. And when it’s being used in the service of Batman, it’s even better!

Batgirl: The Web Movie!

I never read Bryan Q. Miller’s apparently excellent Batgirl series, which saw vigilante Stephanie Brown donning a rather awesome black and purple costume to assume the role of Gotham’s girliest protector. But I know one group of fans who read it and loved it enough to take their fandom to the ultimate level – a fan film! Here is the first full trailer for Batgirl: Spoiled.

Hopefully the actual web series itself will be coming shortly. You can find out more about on Facebook.

The cinematography looks very top notch, and they are definitely not skimping on the fighting. Though if I’m being completely honest, I don’t think that costume fits all that well on the actress. She looks a little too much like a delicate cosplayer than an actual vigilante superhero. But she still looks smashing. Plus cameos by Renee Montoya and more? I’m in!

For those who don’t know, Stephanie Brown was a supporting character in the Batman comics in the 90s. She was the daughter of a super-villain, and decided to put on her own costume and call herself Spoiler in order to help Batman and Robin take down her dad. Then Stephanie decided to stick around as the Spoiler, not least of why because she started dating Robin. Stephanie even became Robin herself for a short period of time when her boyfriend gave up the mantle. Stephanie is the only female Robin in regular DC continuity, even if it was short-lived. When her boyfriend came back and took over again, Stephanie moved on and became the new Batgirl, leading a rather popular, quirky and fun series – from what I’ve heard.

Unfortunately, Stephanie’s Batgirl series came to an end when DC rebooted their entire comic universe in the New 52. Stephanie’s time as both Robin and Batgirl was erased from continuity, and she has yet to reappear in the New 52. So sadness for Stephanie fans. Maybe this web series will provide some happiness.

Batman Doesn’t Like Being Player 2

It’s possible that Batman has a lot of aggression to work out.

Awesome video about Batman and Robin playing video games, and reenacting one of the funnier memes on the Internet, by Crave Online.

Playing with Batman Action Figures

Have you ever heard of Hot Toys? Apparently they’re this ultra elite toy-making company that designs realistic, super amazing action figures! They use the movies as references, and then sculpt figures to match the actors. Very lifelike – and very expensive. Hence why I don’t own any. But these guys do!

Fantastic work! Stop motion animation action figure work is a favorite of mine, and I wish I could make one of my own. I’ve got the figurines, just none of the movie-making skill. It shouldn’t be too hard though.

I remember back in my freshman year of college, my floormates and I on Brew 5 made a stop motion movie right there in the hallway outside our study carrels. My roommate was the director, because I think he had the camera and the computer programs to make it work. I supplied the action figures, because my collection was growing even back then. I would love to share that video, but I don’ t have a copy anymore. It died when the computer I owned freshman year died, lost forever to a dead hard drive.

Still, that thing was awesome! We did very good work for a bunch of amateurs in a hallway.

6 Lamest Batman Villains

I said last week that Batman had the best Rogues Gallery in comics, and I stand by that claim! But even Batman has some stinkers in the bunch. Well, OK, he has more than a few stinkers. The guy has been in comics since 1939, and he can’t fight the Joker all the time. Batman has fought a lot of stupid bad guys, some who last only one issue and some who faded into obscurity years ago. But there are a special few losers who seem to stick around, who manage to claw back into the comics every now and again to remind us just how lame they really are.

Beware the Condiment King!

Don’t get me wrong, this is by no means a complete list. Batman and Robin have fought a lot of bozos over the years. These are just my pick for the 6 lamest Batman bad guys ever! And there are some ground rules. Guys like the Condiment King are purposefully lame. But this list is of legitimate villains who are just super lame. And I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments!
