Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/2/23
Another week of not many comics, and that’s totally on me. Maybe I just need to read more comics? Hopefully I’ll get the chance, because I am on vacation! It’s also a good week for the new Ms. Marvel revival series.
Comic Book of the Week goes to the awkwardly named Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Battle Lines #1 for an interesting kick off to yet another crossover and yet another war in Gotham City.
Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to go well, though I still remain hesitant to sink any more playthroughs into my life on the off chance they improve the game down the line. I won’t be playing Starfield anytime soon because I don’t have an X-Box and I don’t think my PC can handle it. So that stinks. And in a few days it’s my 40th birthday, so that’s a thing!

Once upon a time, Five Nights at Freddy’s was a very popular video game. Is that still the case? I have no idea because I never played and have no interest in playing. I don’t want to play jump scare games. But it’s a Thursday and I finally have a movie trailer to share. I need content!
Looks fine! There have already been some knock-off films taking advantage of the delay in getting this one made. One of them starred Nicholas Cage! But this one looks solid. Spooky, probably not too gory, and it’s a horror film that’s actually coming out at Halloween, so I bet that’ll be nice and popular. Good on them for scoring that weekend.
Five Nights at Freddy’s comes to theaters on Oct. 27.

6 Comic Book Characters Dressed Head-to-Toe in Black
We’re reaching into the bottom of the barrel for this week’s List of Six, folks! There’s just not much going on in the world right now. No good movie trailers. No good movies coming out. All the good TV shows are in the middle of airing. It’s just an average, bummer of a week here in the end of August. So I reached into my list of discarded drafts and came up with a silly one.
Comic book characters who’s costume is essentially just a black bodysuit, with maybe some accessories here and there.
Can there really be a list of such characters? Was I really able to find six?! Yeah, for the most part. They’re not all perfect black bodysuits, but they come really close. And why is this a list? Because it’s such an odd little coincidence, you know? Black is a cool color to wear, but six different characters with superhero costumes that are just a black bodysuit from head to toe? It’s weird that there are at least six, right? At least that’s my theory. And no, it’s not just a list of Batmanses.
Join me after the jump for this dumb little list idea of mine, here at the end of the summer.

I got nothing. I like to post stuff on Mondays, I like to share movie trailers and comic book news and whatever else I can find. But I got nothing. Nothing is happening! I’m falling back on this weird Simon Pegg movie trailer, just so I can post something! It’s called Nandor Fodor & The Talking Mongoose.
What even is this movie? Is it based on an ancient book? Did someone trip acid and write this script? It looks a little fun, if only in how weird it is. So maybe I’ll see it! Except there’s no way it’s going to come out in mainstream theaters. So…streaming someday? We can hope.
Nandor Fodor & The Talking Mongoose comes to some theaters on Sept. 1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/26/23
Some weeks you just don’t want to read comics. Sometimes a bunch of new comics come out, but you can’t work up the energy to read any of them, especially not when immersed in some Baldur’s Gate 3. But I for sure checked out the Captain America Finale, for one.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 because the new storyline kicks off in dramatic, exciting fashion.
Meanwhile, I am definitely still playing Baldur’s Gate 3, though the bugs are starting to get to me. Some are directly impacting one of my playthroughs, and the internet tells me it gets a bit buggier towards the end. I’m starting to wonder if I should just stop playing and wait another year for the Definitive Edition that’s likely to come out. At least I can watch and enjoy the new Ahsoka show! Which reminds me, I have yet to play that new Jedi game that came out in the spring…
Comic Reviews: Captain America: Finale and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111.
