6 Comic Book Characters Dressed Head-to-Toe in Black
We’re reaching into the bottom of the barrel for this week’s List of Six, folks! There’s just not much going on in the world right now. No good movie trailers. No good movies coming out. All the good TV shows are in the middle of airing. It’s just an average, bummer of a week here in the end of August. So I reached into my list of discarded drafts and came up with a silly one.
Comic book characters who’s costume is essentially just a black bodysuit, with maybe some accessories here and there.
Can there really be a list of such characters? Was I really able to find six?! Yeah, for the most part. They’re not all perfect black bodysuits, but they come really close. And why is this a list? Because it’s such an odd little coincidence, you know? Black is a cool color to wear, but six different characters with superhero costumes that are just a black bodysuit from head to toe? It’s weird that there are at least six, right? At least that’s my theory. And no, it’s not just a list of Batmanses.
Join me after the jump for this dumb little list idea of mine, here at the end of the summer.
6. Black Flash
So Black Flash doesn’t exactly where only a black bodysuit. He’s got all the Flash accessories like lightning bolts and stuff. But he’s close! He’s really close! And it was either him or Black Racer, also a DC Comics character. And maybe they’re the same character? I don’t really follow Flash lore. I think Black Flash and Black Racer both represent Death to some degree.
5. Green Lantern Corpse
The Green Lantern Corpse is the black ops division of the Green Lantern Corps, from a single storyline more than a decade ago. But I really liked that storyline, about Guy Gardner being temporarily recruited. They do have rings and instead swallow pills that internalize their GL powers, and then they dress in all-black bodysuits for total stealth. So boom, they make the list!
4. Doorman
Doorman is a member of the Great Lakes Avengers, a mutant with the power to place himself into a wall and then people can walk through him, like a doorway. Neat! I’ve always loved the GLA. His original costume is a black bodysuit with white eye designs. He would later go on to add a white cape. But the original design is all black bodysuit.
3. Dusk
Dusk is one of the Slingers, originally one of the alternate Spider-Man identities from the Identity Crisis storyline. Dusk is a teleporter, with origins in the Negative Zone. Dusk has long, flowing, cloak-like parts to her costume, but mostly it’s all all-black bodysuit. If I’m the only one in the world who remembers the Slingers, so be it. They existed and they were cool.
2. Black Noir
Not a traditional superhero character, but The Boys counts! Black Noir in the comics is very different from Black Noir on the TV show, and I won’t spoil either one. They’re a member of the Seven, the premiere superhero team, and they’re pretty messed up no matter which media they’re fun. But black bodysuit makes for a great Batman parody character.
1. Black Panther
The Black Panther is the first and most prominent of these black clad characters. He’s often got panther ears, jewelry and a little cape, but sometimes he’s just a dude in an all-black costume looking awesome and kicking butt. The costume translated very well to the movies. And it just looks great all around. They got it right the first time.
