The Warcraft Movie is Going to be Surprisingly Accurate!

Blizzcon went down this weekend, with the game company revealing some fancy new bits in their upcoming catalog of games. Blizzard also revealed the first look at some of the characters in the upcoming World of Warcraft movie – and they look kind of amazing! I don’t know what to expect with the Warcraft movie, but I’m a little nervous. Video game movies are hardly ever good, and something about a World of Warcraft film just feels…desperate. I don’t know, it’s hard to say, but I just don’t think we’re going to get the second coming of Lord of the Rings.

Maybe it’s not too good to be true

But whatever we get, the character designs look great, and the character descriptions sound incredible. The movie is going to follow the story of the First War, and they’re going to be pretty close to the original lore. Personally, I wish they’d gone with my idea of Thrall vs. Arthas, but maybe they’re saving that for the sequel.

I don’t want to spoil everything right now, so join me after the jump to check out the first picture of a movie orc, and some great character descriptions!

First up, let’s check out some pictures! The star of the movie is going to be King Llane, played by Dominic Cooper.

He looks slightly fake, but still kind of awesome.

Next up, what we’ve all been waiting to see, is Orgrim the orc, played by Robert Kazinsky!

He looks fantastic! He looks like a real Warcraft orc! And if the CGI is as good as it is in Warcraft cinematics, even with all of that motion-caption, then the Horde is going to look fantastic!

Those are the only pictures we have so far, the rest are just character descriptions. The movie is also going to feature Gul’Dan, Garona, Khadgar, Medivh, Blackhand (played by Clancy Brown!), Durotan and Lothar. That’s a brilliant roster of early Warcraft characters, each one playing the role they played in the actual game lore.  You can read all about them here, just scroll down. I would have thought a Warcraft movie would just kick the lore to the curb, but that definitely doesn’t appear to be the case! I am thrilled with that.

As of right now, I’m ready for this movie to be awesome! Unfortunately, we have to wait until March 2016 to see it.

Oh, and I’m definitely a Horde man.

What about you?
