The 300 Sequel is Coming Out of Nowhere!

I love the movie 300. It’s fantastic, and one of the reasons why I’m so confident in director Zack Snyder tackling Man of Steel. Unfortunately, Snyder isn’t directing 300 2…otherwise known as 300: Rise of an Empire!

That’s a pretty cool trailer. It definitely looks like a sequel to 300, so it’s got that going for it. I don’t think it looks spectacular, but this is just the first trailer. Maybe further trailers will flesh it out more. Right now, Rise of an Empire looks like just a continuation of that 300 style, and I’m rightly OK with that. Still, fun to have a trailer so soon.

Here is the official movie description:

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. “300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

That sounds pretty neat. New heroes, some new villains; too bad that King Leondis is dead. That guy was amazing.
