I Just Don’t Know How to Feel About Jamie Foxx’s Electro

The first set pictures of Jamie Foxx’s Electro hit the Internet this week…and I just don’t know how I feel about them.

It was a 60s look

No, he doesn’t look like that. The yellow and green costume with the weird, lightning bolt mask is Electro’s original comic book appearance. And I’m happy to say that they didn’t try to recreate that costume for Amazing Spider-Man 2.  That would have just been silly.

They’re going with something completely different…at least for now. Check it out after the jump.

Welp, here it is.

That hoodie is hiding nothing

You can see some more pictures here. I just don’t know how to feel. It looks weird. Blue skin? Freaky face scars of some kind? On the one hand, it definitely looks unique. Not necessarily good, though. The look doesn’t fill me with excitement or happiness. It doesn’t look like Electro to me. However, I can’t imagine that this is the finished look. I’m sure they’ll give him all manner of lightning and electricity effects in post production. Would it look better then? I think so…at least a little better.

Weirdest of all, they seem to be taking their visual cues from the animated Spider-Man cartoon that aired on Mtv in the wake of the first movie.

Damn Mtv

It was an alright cartoon, but Mtv was the worst possible network to put it on. So what does this mean for Electro? I have no idea…

For now, I remain cautiously optimistic about Jamie Foxx as Electro. Now we just have to wait for set pictures of Paul Giamatti with a rhinoceros horn glued to his forehead.

  1. I think it’s based off of Ultimate Electro, who looks like this blue version in his later appearances.
